ABC had high hopes for Off the Map, their new medical drama from veteran producers of Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice. Unfortunately things didn’t go as planned and ABC has now cancelled Off the Map after one season on the air.
Off the Map follows the lives of six doctors who have “lost their way” and have traveled to a remote South American jungle to try to rediscover why they wanted to become physicians.
The TV series’ cast includes Caroline Dhavernas, Jason George, Jonathan Castellanos, Mamie Gummer, Martin Henderson, Rachelle Lefevre, Valerie Cruz, and Zach Gilford.
The TV series premiered to a disappointing 2.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.57 million viewers. The show won its timeslot but was disrupted in some parts of the country by coverage of the Tucson Memorial. As a result, ABC reran the premiere Off the Map the following night.
For whatever reason, subsequent episodes of Off the Map essentially drew fewer and fewer viewers each week. The final episode of the season hit a series low and attracted a very poor 1.3 rating in the demo with only 3.80 million viewers.
Despite having some very passionate fans, Off the Map ended up being one of the lowest dramas on ABC. It’s no surprise then that the network has now decided against ordering a second season, cancelling the show. All 13 episodes have aired and we likely won’t find out what became of the young doctors left in the jungle.

Off The Map was probably my favorite show!!! I am so upset that they are canceling it!! I think they should give it another chance and a little more advertising would probably help!!!!!!

It was playing too late I think! I can’t see people not liking that serie. The actors were really good, the suspense and the storylines interesting.
For me to write something on line…..I am very sad the show will not be part of my line-up this fall.
I am bummed out that this show was cancelled! I recorded it every week and was a faithful follower of the drama – I also thought the actors were excellent and hope they find their way to other series – like Greys or Private Practice (which I also watch faithfully).
that is to bad the off the map got canned. I really like the show. they should put it back on i want to know what happens to the drs. it was a really good show. that is to bad. going to miss out on what happens.

Its such a shame. My husband and I never missed an episode. We both really enjoyed the show and loved the characters. We were looking forward to another season.
I am beyond upset that this show got cancelled. My husband and I watched it religiously and it’s VERY hard for us to agree on ANY TV show. Maybe it was in a bad time slot. Sometimes we watched in on Rogers On demand because he has to get up for work early. The characters were so likable and every week kept us on the edge of our seats. You were way off cancelling this show….. WAY OFF:(
I can’t believe this show was cancelled. I am just going to quit investing anytime into these shows anymore seeing as how they cancel all the good ones and keep the crappy ones. 🙁 I am so disappointed as this was one of my favorite shows.
Off the Map had beautiful scenery, and I learned some medical things, why is it all the good shows don’t makeit? 🙁
I’M VERY disapointed about this news!!!! I’ve been waiting all summer to the season 2…I loved the show…the story was original than what we’re used to have…Even from Québec, Canada…this show has found weekly fans!!! Hope we’ll have a season 2…through a new network!!!!!!!!!!
If there was any problem with the show it was the time slot it was put into. It was an awesome show and I think ABC made a poor decision in canceling the show.
I was really upset to hear the show was cancelled, I was really looking forward to watching and some was some other watchers as well………………come on more reality shows…………..really. I getting so tired of the same shows…………please reconsider I think you would be surprised.
I am SOOOOOO bummed this show is cancelled!! It was a great show! Great story, great acting and the only show that moved me emotionally enough each week to truly feel alive. Shame on ABC – sure wish another network would snap it up!

What is wrong with ABC??? You don’t like good shows. You should of gave OFF THE MAP at least another season. Give the actors and actresses another try!! STOP FIRING PEOPLE TO EARLY!!!
