Showtime‘s Penny Dreadful is bringing a new twist to classic characters in a horror setting. Will the show’s ratings be horrible as well? Will the cable channel renew the series for a second season or will it be cancelled instead? Stay tuned.
Penny Dreadful teams legendary characters from classic novels like Dorian Gray, Mina Harker, and Doctor Frankenstein and his monster. The cast includes Reeve Carney, Timothy Dalton, Eva Green, Rory Kinnear, Billie Piper, Danny Sapani, Harry Treadaway, and Josh Hartnett.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available. Because the Showtime audience is sometimes very small, the ratings data can be difficult to find.
6/4 update: Showtime has renewed Penny Dreadful for a second season.
Final season averages: 0.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 770,000 total viewers.

What do you think? Do you like the Penny Dreadful TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Please renew Penny Dreadful I enjoy one of the showtime shows I don’t miss the show
I don’t understand the downhill. Season 2 is better than season 1.
Storyline gravitating to gratuitous sex. No plot just sex; the same as when True Blood went totally downhill. Writers are just lost, but figure they can sell gay sex, necrophilia, old peoples sex, and soon sex with farm animals. One more show like last night’s and I’m done with the series and perhaps Showtime as well.
Pathetic and sad commentary on today’s programming.
