Last week, we reported that Person of Interest executive producer J.J. Abrams said the series will likely be cancelled after its upcoming fifth season. Now, CBS has stated that the decision to cancel or renew will not be made before season five premieres in the spring.
Person of Interest was renewed for a 13-episode fifth season back in May.
Speaking at the TCA winter press tour, CBS executive Glenn Geller said the creators of Person of Interest “have planned a terrific season,” and the network “hope[s] to get it on this spring.”
While CBS is keeping silent about plans for the series, Abrams said the creative team is planning the upcoming season as if it were its last:
“My guess is [Season 5] is the final season. The only heartbreak there is how much good story there was to come if it were to have continued. … But, obviously, things can be adjusted if [there’s] a miraculous [ratings] performance. But I think the idea is that this would be the finale.”

Of course they have to cancel a smart well conceived show that is full of actual plots and complex dialogue with witty sharp humor thrown in. The intelligent audience that a program of this caliber appeals to is not the mindless drone that advertisers want to spend money on.
Not to mention the near impossible task of finding quality people to actually write and produce a show littered with multi syllable words and demanding intellectual thought.
Read the comments, notice anything ? no spelling mistakes from the contributors. That alone justifies keeping it going.

Person of Interest is one of the best shows CBS has had since forever! Guess you are going to let Netflix or HBO take over this great concept too! Why? There are a lot of us out here that enjoy an intelligent and well-written show….that do not EVER watch the crappy reality shows. People wonder why folks are getting so insensitive….well because of the shows that promote being mean spirited and shows people getting ahead by being narcissistic! Please don’t force us all to go to Netflix!
Nooo!! It’s such a great show!!! I just had to Google it today cause I keep looking for it and haven’t found it. Hope you reconsider. We couldn’t ask for more. The cast, director and writers. We feel as if we know each of the cast members. This can only happen when you beleive, enjoy and appreciate the talent and all the incredible team effort that goes into producing such a high quality series. We become fully invested. Hope you continue with the series because we love it!!!

I have always watched Person of Interest, but considering that many of the shows I like have been cancelled across a few networks, I think that the major networks consistently pander to ratings of the specified age group viewers and have less interest in providing quality shows.
Why is it that you cancel the good shows and keep the crappy shows going year after year, don’t understand how the ratings work. To,many stupid reality shows , not much for mature minds to watch
I like person of interest I like the actors and I like the show. To put it bluntly, I’m sick and tired of CBS canceling shows that I like to watch. Therefore there’s only two more shows I watch on this channel and if they get cancelled I’ll never watch CBS again. I don’t give a crap what new shows come on, I will boycott it and so will a lot of my friends. The person cancelling all the good shows needs to be fired because he or she is an idiot!
