The ratings have come down quite a bit (again) this year but CBS has decided to keep Person of Interest around for a fifth season.
On Person of Interest, a presumed dead former-CIA agent (Jim Caviezel) and a mysterious billionaire (Michael Emerson) work together to prevent violent crimes in New York City. The rest of the cast includes Kevin Chapman, Sarah Shahi, and Amy Acker.
Airing on Tuesday nights at 10pm, the fourth season of the series has averaged a 1.53 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.42 million viewers. Compared to the third season, that’s down by 22% in the demo and down by 20% in viewership.
It’s in the middle of the pack of CBS’ current crop of scripted series and its fate could have gone either way. A fifth season will put Person of Interest over the 100 episode mark, making for a solid-sized syndication package, which may have played a role in the renewal.
What do you think? Do you like the Person of Interest series? Do you think season five should be the end?
Update: It looks like season five may be the end for Person of Interest on CBS.
I look forward to new episode of POI EVERY WEEK! Would be lost and terribly UPSET to see the show end in less than 7 or 8 seasons! Sell old episodes to netflix, let ppl keep up with it from beginning, and ratings will soar! GREAT SHOW! PLEASE KEEP IT GOING!!!!
I totally agree with you Brian. Best show on TV. It deserves 23 episodes for season 5. I hope cbs looks at this site because the ratings aren’t always correct. The public have to work and 10.00 PM is to late. People go to sleep at that time, they either tape it or watch it on, on demand. We should all write to cbs in NY and in Calif.
I agree with you Brian. Best show on TV. CBS should move it to 9 pm instead of 10 pm. Its to late for people who work. I stay up to watch but a lot of my friends tape it or watch it on, on demand so the ratings are not always correct. I hope CBS looks at this site. We should all write to them at the NY and Calif. studio offices.
To all “Person of Interest” fans. We have to all write to CBS for more POI episodes for 5th season and more and 6th 7th etc. seasons. I did already. Go to http://www.cbsse.com click on to contact site. When your at the site go to ( contact us ) follow instructions. The more of us that write the greater chance our show has. I know they were going to cancel shows in the past but do to the large amount letters. They kept them on. Past this info to everyone you know. Long live POI.
Just got new info on how to fight for POI. Letters regarding POI and the fans request for a full 5th season can be mailed to Nina Tassler, Chairman of Entertainment, CBS Headquarters, 51 W. 52nd St., New York, N.Y. 10019-4321
The best show with out a doubt. If the pace and content can continue to be as good I’ll watch it indefinitely. Best tv night of the week.
It seems Person of Interest will not be on CBS’ fall schedule and probably will not air until January 2016 at the earliest for a shortened possible final season on CBS. I hope the powers that be at Warner Brothers and Person of Interest are shopping it around to other places like Netflix and Hulu. It does not good for a full season return to CBS IMO.
I think they should shop around POI to different TV stations. Even better; try it on a different night and time. You certainly would not be helping the show by having it begin in January. An avid fan.
This is a terrific show! Don’t cancel it!
Perhaps the reasons why the ratings went down quite a bit last year was possibly because CBS did not air the show on a regular basis. Too many times the show did not have a regular following. The creating of excitement was not on their list of priorities.
The basic problem is that POI blew its wad at the end of season 2. At the time I wondered where they were now going to go with the show and as I expected season 3 was no memorable and season 4 I personally thought was very poor. The show should not be renewed. Currently it looks like they are going to start the show later in the year with only 13 episodes. This indicates that they are going to fill in some back story and end the show, which is what they should have done after season 2. There… Read more »
They didn’t find the machine, it’s location wasn’t revealed until the season 4 finale. The datacenter at the end of season 2 was *one of* Samaritan’s datacenters.
This is the best series on TV. I enjoy Tuesday nights. NCIS , NCIS New Orleans. then Person of Interest. I would be very disappointed if it is cancelled.
I urge all POI fans to write to ABC to keep or order all 23 episodes of POI for season 5 and beyond. A lot of shows were kept on the air because of the out of fan mail. If there is enough they will listen to the fans. Write to both addresses;

The show is done. Just accept it. (Even a “Forever” Petition has thousands of more votes than the one of Person of Interest.)
Nina Tassler just hasn’t announced it. I expect the news soon.
I think we can also expect some changes in the cast to keep the costs low.
Shahi won’t return, because every show she was in has been cancelled, right?
Who wants to hire her if everything turns bad if she is around?
Full season for POI is a no brainer. It is one of the best shows that I have seen in my 61 years on this planet. And J.J. do anything that you can do to keep this on the air and go to Netflix they have lots of money.
Person of Interest and Madame Secretary are my two favorite programs, not just on CBS, but in all. I have been a loyal watcher since they were first aired. This is my “A” always list. I also watch NCIS, NCIS LA & sometimes, NCIA NO; The Good Wife, Amazing Race and Survivor… My B list. My C list is too lengthy to mention. CBS will have to perform a miracle to create a program with more possibilities the Person of Interest, which is based on an artificial intelligence machine which is the goal of seven of the worlds most powerful… Read more »
I hope the showrunners take POI over to Netflix where it can really breathe.
I love POI and would be devastated if season 5 would be the last of the series.
Ништяк, что сериал продлили!!!
Of course not. This are too cool series about to stop now. If they make more episodes, they will make more money, and also more new peoples will learn about this awesome series. I hope like many more peoples this will be NOT the final season..
I think POI is one of the most exciting and intriguing shows on air. Many episodes are edge of your seat material. The writing, acting and directing makes POI great viewing. I’m happy CBS picked up season 5 but hopefully it will end up being more than 13 episodes.
Hi Christian,
I agree with you 100%.
I am glad t network kept this show since it is so good. There is so much potential in all f the characters involved. Bring back Shaw somehow. This hsow deserves at least 2 or 3 more seasons.
Great that it has been renewed but a full season would have been better when all is said and done it a shame business takes over what people want to see. If this was CBS owned it would have been fully renewed no brainer! it’s ratings average is better than Elementary, Good Wife, Five 0, Blue Bloods etc and are on par with so called hits on other networks. Either it could possible get a back 9 order or is this the final season on CBS, I know Warner Bros can try and shop it other networks but how often… Read more »
If I remember correctly I googled POI last year at this time and they only had episodes up to Feb and I thought that was a short season. Then it kept on for 23 episodes. So if all goes well the same will happen.
