Last season, Person of Interest moved to Tuesday nights and lost Taraji P. Henson. The show also lost a lot in the ratings. Will the numbers continue to fall or will they rise with a new lead-in? Is it essentially guaranteed to be renewed for a fifth season by CBS (because of syndication) or, could it be cancelled? Stay tuned.
On Person of Interest, a presumed dead former-CIA agent (Jim Caviezel) and a mysterious billionaire (Michael Emerson) work together to prevent violent crimes in New York City. The rest of the cast includes Kevin Chapman, Sarah Shahi, and Amy Acker.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/11 update: Person of Interest has been renewed for a fifth season on CBS. Will it be the end?
Final season averages: 1.53 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.42 million total viewers.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a few weeks later.
For comparisons: The third season of Person of Interest averaged a 2.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 11.83 million total viewers.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the Person of Interest TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or be renewed for a fifth season?
I remember the days when POI use to be in the 12 – 13 million viewers range.
What happened?
Now they are continuously grasping at the just over 9 mill with the 8 million pitfall growing comfortably closer. Sad, but these things happen I guess; just normally see this drastic decline after a 5 or 6 season.
Please keep Person of Interest going. It did lag a little the beginning of the season but my husband and I think it picked up after the first few shows. Still really like the show!!!
I was a huge fan of POI, the storyline they had was stellar and the chemistry between Reese and Joss was everything. It’s interesting how many believe Taraji leaving the show made no difference. But ratings say otherwise, the “going in a different direction ” phase hasn’t made a lasting mark. The Shaw and Root characters should be boosting the viewership “reaching the broader audience “and yet the show is bleeding. Taraji had a fan base perhaps it wasn’t the one’s that CBS or the producers wanted, but they were hers, and our numbers made a difference…they underestimated it. …14.5… Read more »
Once they killed off Taraji P. Henson, the show was doomed. I rarely watched it after that and it used to be my favorite show. The two new female characters just don’t work with the show.
I respectively disagree. Shaw and Root bring a certain something to the show. Each of them in their own way. They compliment both Reese and Finch. They all make a great team.
a certain something yeah, like bad acting, poor story lines
POI is my favorite show of the last decade, and I’m in the 18-49 demographic. Sarah Shahi needs to be brought back, and as for the development of Harold, I’ve been a little disappointed with his flashbacks.
POI is my favorite T.V. show. In fact, I’d kept up on the NCIS’, the CSI’s, and others until this show premiered. Now it’s the firstly prioritized show on my DVR. It’s truly my favorite show in many years. Bringing Sarah Shahi back will help a lot, as she is easy to look at (for what it’s worth). I would be very disappointed to see it all come to end. I could see myself paying good money to continue to see it as it’s the only show I commit myself to following, and I am in the 18-49 years of… Read more »
Mark, I totally agree with you. CBS would be crazy not to bring it back. I think Shaw is coming back, She only left to have a baby. And they left it open for her return. And Jim is so easy on the eyes.
one of their lowest rated mid week shows? yeah , it would be stupid to cancel a low rated show
Nemo F just because you are not liking it now doesn’t mean you have to troll on others comments. Why are you even on this site if you are such a hater???
Dude, find another show and go watch that. PoI cannot be so bad if you can’t stop trolling crews comments 🙂 hahahahahaha

Please! Keep POI for another season. In my opinion, it is one of the best shows that has come along on network television in years. If anything substantive has hurt its ratings this season (Season 4) it is the change of time from 9:00p.m. to 10:00p.m., and perhaps the switch from Thursday to Tuesday. The switch reminds me of the old adage, “If it’s not broke, don’t fix it.” Regardless, network television needs a show like this … an intelligently written blend of modern crime and science fiction. There are plenty of sitcoms, reality show and quite enough comic book… Read more »
I totally agree. POI is the best show on TV. It’s so original. 5th season, bring it on.
I say give us this last season with a blast! No need to milk something that has lost most of its core audience and story!
I agree with you Thom, clever twists and turns to each episode keep us fans glued.
The flashbacks are insightful and another creative spin. I hope the network hasnt given
Up on the show as I haven’t.
I agree with Roxanne and Tom person of interest is the best show on TV it keeps me on the edge of my seat it’s the best show to come along in a long time every character is unique and every class has a twist renew renew
I meant I agree with thom, not tom
I think they should continue with season 5 I like the concept with which they are going forward, seems like something interesting is going to happen.
I agree they need to renew for a 5th season. I really enjoyed last nights episode. Back to the basics with Reese and Finch.
I kinda liked the combination of old school NYPD and mobsters combined with Harold and his machine standing for the most recent in our society. It created a dynamic to the show combined of course with the chemistry stated above between Joss and John. The feeling now is more… dull, two machines fighting? International security companies, don’t fall into the Homeland trap.
I still watch, and still really like the writing and the acting, but the Samaritan storyline is just not that… exciting.
I read no lies here!!!
They had created something original, just to throw it away for this spy crap.
I expect the RISE of a THIRD MACHINE in Season 5!!!!!
There already is a third machine, the one that the woman in Hong Kong is building
Please their is a need for this type of show
and yes please make a season five 23,episodes if possible me and all my friends enjoy watching the show hats off to the producers and all the actors involved love it simply love the show from start to finish can’t wait for the next season!!
Amen to the last comment, you echo my words. Long live POI.
You have to be kidding? 23 epis? The is on its tail end. Would be great to weave in a satisfying finally this season.
everyone has their own opinion about the show this show is the best on TV the acting the writing casting. so much chemistry going on.those of you who don’t like it don’t watch it that’s more who like it and still want it for another season we don’t need the negativity I like Carters much is the other person but let’s give it up she’s off the show and that’s it she was good she wasn’t great
Joss Carter was the best character (besides John Reese) on this show. FACT.
Without her the show SUCKS. FACT.
You don’t like my opinion? Live with it, we have to read your comments here, too. So this seems only fair.
I hope that the rumors are true that Jim Caviezel is on his way out!!!
if Jim’s out the shows over.!!!!!!!!!
@Pink Laura,
The show is already over, but like an all but technically “dead” family member on life support, they just won’t let it go. It’s unfortunate, because I really did used to like this show. They shouldn’t have changed things so much and killed off their best woman (Carter).
@ grey Laura, you don’t actually have to read anyones comments you choose to. Why is it that you’re getting so cross at the people who like the show?? If you dislike the show stop watching it, don’t come on the sites regarding it and chill out!!!! I loved Joss and was so sad when she left, but she’s not crying about it, in fact she is soaring like an eagle on Empire, so whats with all the pent up anger??? @Jade, I don’t mean this rudely at all but I am curious as to how you know if the… Read more »
Besides the Good Wife this is my second favorite show.
My favorite show on tv. It has me on the edge of my seat every week. You never know what is going to happen. The writing is great and so are the actors. I never miss it. Sometimes I watch it 2x because I may have missed something the first time. My hope it
keeps running for years to come. There’s so much more they can do with it.
The best show on tv and my favorite. Long live POI.
I agree with you, Laura, long live POI,
there are plenty of avenues the characters
can travel. Downton Abbey is still my all time favorite as that is
Such a masterful work and the cast and all aspects are tremendous.
But as that PBS series retells the past, POI unfolds the
glimpses of the future.
Gave up on this show! I no longer watch it!
(No Taraji P. Henson = No Viewer)
Love the show, too bad about losing Carter, but she has moved on to another. This show is rare that it stretch the imagination. Great cast, great stories! Please keep making the show entertaining!
I miss Joss Carter (Taraji P. Henson) so much!!!
She had something very special and together with John Reese (Jim Caviezel)
she made this show “OH SO SPECIAL”…damn their chemistry!!!! It was spectacular( even more exciting than Taraji/Terrence on Empire…)
Now the show no longer is a “MUST SEE”!!! I watch it from time to time, but it just isn’t the same. It’s empty, something is just missing. It’s Taraji and her heart…..
If it gets cancelled or renewed…i simply don’t care…isn’t that sad?????
I agree with you that Reese and Carter had chemistry. But from a woman’s point of view any actress would have chemistry Reese, he’s got all the chemistry needed. The whole show is John and Harold, without them its nothing.
No, the whole show isn’t John and Harold. It was John, Joss, and Harold. It started with John and Joss, and without Joss it’s lost its heart. From another woman’s point of view, a show without a heart, just like a person, is dead. They may renew this show if they want, but it’s already nothing to me.
Harold Finch has become such a silly and unlikeable character in Season 4.
To me he is not even half of the show.
add in stupid root and shaw and the show is crap
