Though the ratings have fallen quite a bit, CBS renewed Person of Interest for a fifth season. Now we’ve learned that the TV show may be ending.
On Person of Interest, a presumed dead former-CIA agent (Jim Caviezel) and a mysterious billionaire (Michael Emerson) work together to prevent violent crimes in New York City. The rest of the cast includes Kevin Chapman, Sarah Shahi, and Amy Acker.
Deadline reports that, of the CBS shows that have been renewed, POI was the only one to not receive a full season order. At this point, season five will only have 13 episodes.
This is just what happened with The Mentalist a year ago — a series that was also produced by outside studio Warner Bros TV. It was rumored to be that show’s final season many months before the network would confirm it. With this short season renewal, it’s looking like history may repeat itself with POI.
If CBS does indeed cancel POI, the studio could potentially try to find another home for it. While the network doesn’t have a financial stake in the series, the studio does. By the end of next season, there will be 103 episodes — enough for a decent-sized syndication package.
It’s worth noting that the studio already has an off-network deal with WGN America for the series. That cable channel has been producing their own dramas Salem and Manhattan. The ratings have been very tiny for those shows but perhaps WGN could be an option to keep Person of Interest going.

This is one of my favorite shows and very disappointed that it may be ending.
Me and my family love this show. It shouldn’t be cancelled it is a great show. I even cried on the last episode of season 4. If it is to be continued for season 6 I am very hopeful.
Wow, great show found it on Netflix. Superb acting, Fussco as a character unbelievable! Fussco puts the beat down in “the devil’s share.” I don’t even want to say anything about Carter, but damn really? This is the best show I’ve seen in quiet some time. CBS should make more, cause you’ve got a sleeper hit here.
Just my luck, find a show I REALLY like (Person of Intrest), and they cancle it. What is up with that? They did the same thing with “Teranova”, cancled the show leaving a bad cliff hanger. Why dose a station cancle a show with good ratings that is well liked and replace it with a Medioker show like “zoo”? I watch two and a half episodes and lost interest.

I hate that next season is the last season for Person of Interest. I can think of few shows that CBS should cancel. The reality TV shows Survivor, and Big Brother should be history (pure garbage). The Good Wife and Scorpio are both pretty lame shows with contrived plots and they should be put to rest. Mom is trash and doesn’t belong on TV. The Mentalist, CSI and CSI New York were all good shows with good actors and good plots. Only one actor got salvaged from CSI to be on CSI Cyber, Ted Danson. Yes of course, I’ll watch this series on other network, My son and I have been waiting for the new season since the finale. It’s disappointing that good quality show like this got beat out by those stupid reality shows.
we love Person of interest. It has held our interest for all the seasons. We have watched the entire evening Tuesdays on CBS. We love the NCIS series all of them. Cancelling POI would be criminal. You all only look at ratings. You have renewed shows that I never watch

I agree with you Veronica Brundage. Big Brother just came on CBS a little while ago and I had to change the channel. The reality shows on CBS are such an insult to my intelligence. Why would they keep these stupid shows on and not renew an excellent, well written show like Person of Interest???? I just don’t get it.
I never heard of this series until it appeared on Neflix but I find it totally entertaining and addictive. I like the characters and would love to continue watching it, I hope you won’t cancel. I wish there was some romance but really enjoy the storyline and the series.

I would watch it on ABC or NBC as I do not have cable or dish.
I’m an older adult and I look forward to this show every week.
The show has me on the edge of my seat and wanting more.
Please don’t cancel this program give it at least another year.

I hated the abrupt way Carter left the show but I understand now why she did. I really enjoy the show. I hope they keep it.
She had to make room for Shaw that’s why Nolan killed her off.
Person of Interest is one of my favorite shows. Also of my husband. It seems like every time we find a show that we really like it gets cancelled. Keep it on.
