Though the ratings have fallen quite a bit, CBS renewed Person of Interest for a fifth season. Now we’ve learned that the TV show may be ending.
On Person of Interest, a presumed dead former-CIA agent (Jim Caviezel) and a mysterious billionaire (Michael Emerson) work together to prevent violent crimes in New York City. The rest of the cast includes Kevin Chapman, Sarah Shahi, and Amy Acker.
Deadline reports that, of the CBS shows that have been renewed, POI was the only one to not receive a full season order. At this point, season five will only have 13 episodes.
This is just what happened with The Mentalist a year ago — a series that was also produced by outside studio Warner Bros TV. It was rumored to be that show’s final season many months before the network would confirm it. With this short season renewal, it’s looking like history may repeat itself with POI.
If CBS does indeed cancel POI, the studio could potentially try to find another home for it. While the network doesn’t have a financial stake in the series, the studio does. By the end of next season, there will be 103 episodes — enough for a decent-sized syndication package.
It’s worth noting that the studio already has an off-network deal with WGN America for the series. That cable channel has been producing their own dramas Salem and Manhattan. The ratings have been very tiny for those shows but perhaps WGN could be an option to keep Person of Interest going.
What do you think? Should season five be the end for Person of Interest? Would you watch a sixth season on another channel?
I love Person of Interest. I started watching it because I am a big fan of Jim Caviezel
and I was very surprised at how good the show was. All the other cast members
are excellent. It is so great to see a t.v. show that has heroes who always strive
to help people- with both passion and humor. I would watch it on any channel even
Netflix, l
Come on CBS, requesting Person of Interest not be canceled. It’s working on all levels of what a good show should be. Most cop/detective series are full of repetative sameness. But in most every POI show I can say, “Wow, I didn’t see that comming!”
There are many bad TV shows, but Person of Interest is one of thhe best and yes, I would atch a 5th and 6th season. I think this show should not be canceled. I have liked some other shows in the past, but they were taken off as well, it may have to do with me liking shows that are good but do not fit the normal box. POI has been well written, good actors and always want one to watch the next show. I have discussed this with many freinds and they all say that is a good show.… Read more »
Keep it! Well written, great acting. Too few shows have that. Mainly crapola on tv. I watch maybe 8 shows total–1 on PBS, 4 on cable, rest on “regular”–per week. Keep POI!!
Yes! Without a doubt! Wassad to see Taraji killed off but just when iI got interested in TV again….
Keep Person of Interest!!!
I would watch on another channel if necessary.
I love the show and don’t think CBS should cancel it. I would watch it on another channel if it continued past this season.
If CBS cancels Person Of Interest I believe it would be a big mistake. It has been one of the best shows ever on TV period!
I love persons of interest and would love to watch it several more years
Please renew POI and take it to a logical conclusion, Inappropriate action to past faithful viewers
it is a great show.. much better than the mindless and moronic reality shows watched every week and I need to know what happens to Shaw l
This is a great show, if it is canceled like Heros was I will have to go back to watching DVD AGAIN.
I recently started watching this show on Netflix, I binged watched and finished all 3 seasons in a month. I thought Netflix was going to have Season 4 on September 22nd; however they havent. I am waiting so I can continue watching. I love this show, I do think they should’ve kept Carter, I would’ve loved to see what happened between her and John after they kissed, they have always had good chemistry, . And I find it true what another commenter said was that if no sex or profanity the shows are cancelled. This is one of my fav… Read more »
I feel in love with this show from Netflix and was hoping this was not the end of the show. Why is it that whenever something good comes to television, that is a somewhat clean show with no sex or a lot of profanity, they want to take it off the air. I will be very disappointed if they do.
My husband and I watch the show every Tues night. It is a great series; quite different than other shows. We hope it will stay on CBS, if not, we hope to know to which network it will be moved.
Watched it every day. Miss it very much.
A different kind of “show” with very interesting characters – love Harold and Bear…miss Shah and Reese is almost surreal but believable – Paige Turco is always interesting when she appears and we also thought Taraj P. Henson was great! The only reason the series is a bit iffy might be that the world now has a “world is watching you” type of mood! Still, the show is worth watching and the characters even surpass the scripts…. Groves is good and embodies a completely different character type than any others….at least from what we’ve seen on network shows. Keep them… Read more »
