Though the ratings have fallen quite a bit, CBS renewed Person of Interest for a fifth season. Now we’ve learned that the TV show may be ending.
On Person of Interest, a presumed dead former-CIA agent (Jim Caviezel) and a mysterious billionaire (Michael Emerson) work together to prevent violent crimes in New York City. The rest of the cast includes Kevin Chapman, Sarah Shahi, and Amy Acker.
Deadline reports that, of the CBS shows that have been renewed, POI was the only one to not receive a full season order. At this point, season five will only have 13 episodes.
This is just what happened with The Mentalist a year ago — a series that was also produced by outside studio Warner Bros TV. It was rumored to be that show’s final season many months before the network would confirm it. With this short season renewal, it’s looking like history may repeat itself with POI.
If CBS does indeed cancel POI, the studio could potentially try to find another home for it. While the network doesn’t have a financial stake in the series, the studio does. By the end of next season, there will be 103 episodes — enough for a decent-sized syndication package.
It’s worth noting that the studio already has an off-network deal with WGN America for the series. That cable channel has been producing their own dramas Salem and Manhattan. The ratings have been very tiny for those shows but perhaps WGN could be an option to keep Person of Interest going.
What do you think? Should season five be the end for Person of Interest? Would you watch a sixth season on another channel?
Yes, I would watch abother season. I’ve been searching for when the season starts!
Carter never should have been killed off. Having said that I am mixed about seeing Point of Interest ending. The last season or two has had many changes since Carter’s character was killed off. The storyline has become somewhat confusing especially the season before last. So much could have done story wise with Carter. Love John, Finch, Lionel. I’m not crazy about Shaw. As much as I love the main characters when major changes occur that is sometimes indication that it’s time to go. Storylines are becoming harder to come byb
We love the show Person of Interest! Please do not cancel this show! It represents something good in this world of evil. There are so many shows full of bloodshed & sex. This show has a minimum of that. It’s based on saving lives! It’s unique & interesting. We like the actors & actress’s in it also. We watched every show & looked forward to every one!
Yes I would watch season 6 on another station
Yes!!!!! Love the show
It would be a shame to see such an intellectual show disappear from the lineup and yes I would follow it to another channel for the viewing enjoyment I receive from it. I do NOT watch ANY of the reality shows that are currently being played so all those advertising dollars are lost on me.
PERSON OF INTEREST IS A REALLY GREAT SHOW!!! IT SHOULD NOT BE CANCELED!!! THIS IS A SHOW I WATCH EVERY WEEK WITH MY MOM AND DAD!!! THEY ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT AS DO I AND IF THEY CANCEL IT WE ARE DONE WITH THAT NETWORK!!! I AM SO DISGUSTED WITH THEM WANTING TO OR ACTULY CANCELING THE TRULY AMAZING SHOWS THEY HAVE AND LEAVING THE GARBAGE ON TV!!! WE NEED TO HAVE MORELS BACK ON TV!!! SHOWS LIKE FOREVER AND PERSON OF INTEREST HAVE VALUES AND MORELS!!! THEY SHOW LOVE FOR ONE ANOTHER, LOYALTY, FRIENDSHIP, LOOKING OUT FOR EACH OTHER AND… Read more »
AMEN!! You know what they say GARBAGE in GARBAGE OUT!! Most people want to watch icky reality shows and stand around and do nothing about anything; just perpetuate the cycle of violence and STUPIDITY!!! After all each generation gets DUMBER than the previous one and I for one am SICK OF IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am totally distraught about them ending one of the best shows on TV. I compare this show with “24.” It’s becoming a pattern with CBS, they dangle the carrot and then snatch it away. There was another show that got cancelled last year “Intelligence” it was a great show. I hope they catch on soon, people will start looking elsewhere for decent shows.
Person of interest is always been a great show I’m glad you renewed it for another season I can’t wait to see what how the season going to play out I look forward to watching it and everybody in my family does also.
I think the “genius” at CBS who made the decision to kill “Person Of Interest” should be put into a room alone with “Miss Shaw” and “Root” and get to try to explain the wisdom of his decidedly idiotic decision. The demographic that CBS is courting does not for the most part watch television in the same manner as older generations, and all the networks’ poor programming choices in general and lack of support for their hit shows in particular is killing off what little audience they have left. Network television is dying, and if this is how they are… Read more »
this is very good show it should be cancelled i been strong fan of this show
I have enjoyed the show from the beginning. When you moved out of it’s Tue. spot to Thurs. it took a big hit. I do not understand why when you have a successful show you change nights.
This is what you get when you let the masses who are asses run the world Bridezillas, Survivor, The Voice, America’s Top[ Model. Vapid, vacuous garbage cans the lot of them.
The brainless wonders can’t watch an intellectual show like POI because it hurts their mouse brain!! They didn’t get the X-Files either.
I will watch every episode they make of this show and always want more! It is the best thing I think I have ever seen! I Am hugely disappointed to see it may be cancelled and I pay monthly for a CBS subscription which I would have no use for if they cancel this!
