NBC has been promoting Persons Unknown as a mini-series and that the show’s mysteries will be answered by the end. The show has not performed well in the ratings so hopefully the network will let all 13 episodes air.
If they do pull the series early, the show is scheduled to be put out on DVD. According to Amazon, it’s scheduled for an August 31st release but that’s likely to change because NBC won’t have aired all of the episodes until early September.
Some readers have noticed that the DVD set is titled Persons Unknown: The Complete First Season
Executive Producer Remi Aubuchon recently told Collider that, when they were shooting it, they did so believing it would be an on-going series. Though they wanted it to go on, he made sure that they answered all of the questions by the end of the first season, to make it a satisfying story for viewers.
Could there be another season? Aubuchon said, “It’s not unheard of, in the course of life, that if there’s enough interest in it, we could consider going a second season or doing another chapter. I keep looking at it as books in a series, and this season is the first book. I feel confident that we will have a beginning, middle and end, in this season, and it was wise of NBC to then call it what it really is, which is a mini-series.”
He continued, “24 is a really good example, in that there was a definitive beginning, middle and end for the first season. They had a slightly different format than we have, but the second season just retained Jack Bauer and a few other players, with the same basic format and idea, but it was a completely different show. I’m not saying that that’s exactly where we’re going, but certainly I think that there’s room for saying, ‘Hey, look, we told one story of a continuing saga.’ You should be able to pick this book up and get to the last line of the season and go, ‘Wow! Well, I hope there’s a second season, but at least I feel satisfied that I got to see all of this. They answered it all for me.”
Unfortunately, it looks unlikely that NBC would be interested in another season but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t return on another channel or in another form.

Persons Unknown, which i found while searching Netflix attempting to find a cure for my “Lost” withdrawals wound up being for me, my next high so to speak. Personally ive never been the type to be so absorbed into any tv series or show but have a love for mysteries and and suspenseful drama has brought some tv series to my attention. So seeing lost can’t go any further and shouldnt because it’s perfect the way it is, Persons Unknown needs to continue to bring me some peace. if thats something in the making or in question i really suggest… Read more »
i loved the series. i wanted to watch it because i loves jason wiles in third watch but as soon as i saw the first episode i loved the series too. i would love a second season.
Hell yes there should be another season, I just finish watching the 1st season all 13 episodes on Netflix – watched it in two day, I will go crazy if I don’t find out about the second level. The Coopers must come together at some point or even bring the detective to the town as one of the subjects that would be cool.
WHERE’S SEASON 2??? who cares if NBC doesn’t take another season, by far it’s a great show that other channel and programming will accept and make millions, I found this series on Netflix and finished it less than 5 days cuz we were HOOKED! love tv series like this, the world need more shows like this rather than most shows i’ve seen with no purpose to it. They must do another season. Too many unanswered questions. Besides, this is the kind of programming that’s missing these days.

i watched the first season, cant wait for the second season hope they make one.
I am watching it on netflix right now. I had no idea what channel it was on till i looked it up 2 minutes ago 11 episodes in. I didn’t know it was a mini-series and I have no idea at this point in time how it ends. But so far, I enjoy it. I am hooked. And i WILL watch it if NBC decides to bring it back for a second season, and I really hope they do.
i wish they would do another season but i wouldnt put anything by nbc these tv networks always saying certain shows didnt have a big revue but the you read its fan base and your like wow here is a exsample the show the gates was a awsome series a big fan base but got axed
The first season left me with many????? thise is because we saw how the victims escaped from the mystry town but after the accident we just saw “janet cooper” in the hospital,later being transported by her mommas mercinery and she found herself in the ship back to the trap agai.the question is,how did the sergent,chalrles and the black girl found their way in again and they were in mor0cco after escaping???????????shows that the NBC din’t have a good fiction plot to make the audience understand the series and if season two was not to be released why welcome us in… Read more »
I just finished watching Persons Unknown on Netflix! I was addicted to it immediately!! In fact, I’m almost embarrassed to say that I finished the entire 1st season in one weekend! Please continue the series! 🙂 I want to see how the rest of the story plays out!

I WISH THERE IS A SECOND SEASON TO PERSONS UNKOWN. IT IS THE BEST TV SHOW II COULDNT EVEN MISS ONE EPISODE. II DONT THINK IT WAS SUPOSE TO END THERE BECAUSE THEY NEVER SAID WHO WAS KEEPING THEM THERE IN THE TOWN NOR WHY.
