NBC has been promoting Persons Unknown as a mini-series and that the show’s mysteries will be answered by the end. The show has not performed well in the ratings so hopefully the network will let all 13 episodes air.
If they do pull the series early, the show is scheduled to be put out on DVD. According to Amazon, it’s scheduled for an August 31st release but that’s likely to change because NBC won’t have aired all of the episodes until early September.
Some readers have noticed that the DVD set is titled Persons Unknown: The Complete First Season
Executive Producer Remi Aubuchon recently told Collider that, when they were shooting it, they did so believing it would be an on-going series. Though they wanted it to go on, he made sure that they answered all of the questions by the end of the first season, to make it a satisfying story for viewers.
Could there be another season? Aubuchon said, “It’s not unheard of, in the course of life, that if there’s enough interest in it, we could consider going a second season or doing another chapter. I keep looking at it as books in a series, and this season is the first book. I feel confident that we will have a beginning, middle and end, in this season, and it was wise of NBC to then call it what it really is, which is a mini-series.”
He continued, “24 is a really good example, in that there was a definitive beginning, middle and end for the first season. They had a slightly different format than we have, but the second season just retained Jack Bauer and a few other players, with the same basic format and idea, but it was a completely different show. I’m not saying that that’s exactly where we’re going, but certainly I think that there’s room for saying, ‘Hey, look, we told one story of a continuing saga.’ You should be able to pick this book up and get to the last line of the season and go, ‘Wow! Well, I hope there’s a second season, but at least I feel satisfied that I got to see all of this. They answered it all for me.”
Unfortunately, it looks unlikely that NBC would be interested in another season but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t return on another channel or in another form.

I also just finished watching the 1 season on Netflix and i was sad when i realized there wasn’t a second season anywhere so i just kept searching on the internet for when season 2 would come out if it was going to. I just wish that PERSONS UNKNOWN would have a second season, and with a little bit more episodes. Just finished watching all 13 episodes on Netflix. Was also upset there wasnt another season. I wish I watched it when it originally aired and the time slot wasnt a Sat in the summertime. Probably why we missed it and others too. Great show, characters and story line. Wish another network would pick it up.
I just finished season one on netflix! I loved it the whole way through and was bumbed to find out a second season hasn’t been planned. I don’t get hooked on tv shows very easily but Persons Unknown had me. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make a second season! You can’t just leave us hanging on level two!

I just finished watching season 1 of persons unknown on Netflix with my 10 yr old daughter. We both lived it and want more PLEASE make a second season. You can’t leave us hanging on to level 2 and not know what level 2 is we need more.
Just finished watching this series on Netflix and it was one of my favourite shows i’ve ever seen. It has such potential and reminded me a lot of Lost. This could certainly go on for more seasons and I would love it. Please try to keep it going.

I just finished season 1 of Persons Unknown on Netflix… AMAZING. They REALLY need to do a second season, though, being that at the end of season 1 they left us with more questions. What happens in level 2? Please, please, please make another season! This show should just become a TV show instead of a “mini-series”, it’s AMAZING and has a lot of potential!

I just watched the first season on netflix and this show was so good. I really wished there was more. In my mind they set it up, and have the ability, to go for 10 seasons because at the end they were on that boat and were welcomed to level 2. Earlier in ther season the director referred to maybe finally finding a candidate for level 10. I mean come on NBC! I just saw the entire Season 1 on netflix and I loved it. Very disappointed that there ISNT a season 2. Whoever decided the ratings weren’t good enough must not know good television shows.
I thought this was one of the best series ever. why do other decidely bad series continue and one that you can’t wait for it to come back, doesn’t.
I don’t know who “rates” these shows, but all of their taste seems to be in their mouth… One Great show… Hopefully, the “critics” will figure this out!
