Over the past year, TNT really cleaned house by cancelling several of their drama series. They’re supposedly now favoring “edgier” series. Does Proof, a show that focuses on death and the afterlife, fit with that new strategy? How will it do in the ratings? Will it be cancelled or renewed for a second season? Stay tuned.
On Proof, Doctor Carolyn “Cat” Tyler (Jennifer Beals) recently lost her son, saw her marriage end, and become estranged to her teenage daughter. Cat is persuaded by cancer-stricken billionaire Ivan Turing (Matthew Modine) to search for evidence that death is not the end and this takes her on a deeply personal and emotional journey. The rest of the cast includes David Sutcliffe, Joe Morton, Edi Gathegi, Caroline Rose Kaplan, Callum Blue, and Annie Thurman.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.
8/18 update: If you ran TNT, would you cancel or keep this series?
9/24 update: TNT has cancelled Proof after one season. Details here.
Final season averages: 0.31 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.12 million total viewers.

What do you think? Do you like watching the Proof TV series on TNT? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
I am so tired of great shows that are not mainstream being cancelled. This was riveting, well acted and I couldn’t wait to see the next episode. When will networks realize that most people in 2015 dvr their shied due to busy lives so more than likely Nielsen ratings are not accurate.
You CANNOT depend on ratings because a small percentage of viewers receive books and frankly unless Nielsen Ratings goes to digitally collecting data from.cable and satellite companies ratings fat out are not correct. Hell in have done ratings books 3x all during November well guess what most shows aren’t on most of November it’s all holiday stuff lol uh move it to October. And may is also useless because summer season does not begin until.june/july. Time to upgrade for the way networks run their year round seasson to make ratings at least somewhat reflective of reality.
So they cancel a show that is so different from other shows and keep the ones on that people are sleeping with everyone else, etc. Wow I didn’t know TNT could be so dumb. I guess the only shows I watch will be Major Crimes and Rizzoli & Isles. Yup that is it. Nothing else on TNT.
I’m disappointed Proof has been canceled. I hope someone else picks it up.
CAN I BUY THE RIGHTS
Instead of keeping shows like Public Morals which does nothing but glorifying BAD morals leave Proof on. It was thought provoking and well acted. Life after death is one of our greatest mysteries and rather than filling our airways with, greed, sexual immorality and violence TNT should be bold and elevate their standards not lower them with so much junk!
Please bring the show back,it was very good and gave you a lot to think about
Proof was well done. It is a shame to see it has been cancelled. Bring it back, it’s an interesting show, and Jennifer Beals is great in this roll.
Please go for a second season I know this show is amazing!!!!
This is just PROOF that that you folks are DUMB. A good show is gone and it could have gone so many different ways. Face the facts you just didn’t do your homework on the AFTERLIFE.
I am SO disappointed to see PROOF is canceled. It was wonderful, thought provoking and VERY enjoyable.
If you cancel this show you should be fired. You don’t know a good show from a bad one and for a change this is a great one major crimes is awful but you kept it and gave it a good time slot try moving Proof it would be better do your job right
I love the show and am wondering why they would cancel it. It seems that every time a show with substance comes along that intrigues people and gets some momentum, they take it off the air like Strange Luck with DB Sweeney in the early nineties or Eli Stone in the last decade, they tske it off the air.
I would like to see Proof with Jennifwr Beaks et al to continue.
Live the show … something different … life has many mysteries
Please keep this show. It’s so well acted and keeps your interest every week.
