A couple of years ago, Edward Burns appeared in a TNT limited series called Mob City. It didn’t perform very well in the ratings. Now, he’s back on the network in a much bigger role — as an actor, director, and writer. Will Public Morals be a success for Burns and the cable channel? Cancelled or renewed for a second season? Stay tuned.
Set in early 1960s New York City, Public Morals revolves around the professional and personal lives of the members of the NYPD’s Public Morals Division. They enforce the vice laws that are still on the books but that no one wants to enforce — prohibiting crimes like gambling and prostitution. The large cast includes Edward Burns, Michael Rapaport, Elizabeth Masucci, Katrina Bowden, Ruben Santiago-Hudson, Wass Stevens, Keith Nobbs, Austin Stowell, Patrick Murney, Lyndon Smith, Brian Wiles, and Cormac Cullinane.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.
Final season averages: 0.15 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 880,000 total viewers.

What do you think? Do you like watching the Public Morals TV series on TNT? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
The chart shows close to a million viewers were watching. It’s a great show and TNT needs to give it some more time before giving up. TNT has some other shows that are not worth renewable but yet they were. PLEASE BRING BACK PUBLIC MORALS.
A true and loyal fan.
I LOVE THIS SHOW!! PLEASE BRING IT BACK!
I love Public Morals. Please don’t cancel. I was looking forward to next season. If cancelled, there are several shows that I watch on TNT that I will no longer continue to watch. As well as many other fans.
I liked it too. And it hate when they cancel a show that ends in a cliff hanger.
But with less than a half a million people watching and almost no one in the 18-49 demo, there wasn’t much incentive for TNT to continue the show.
please consider renewing this series; it was a breath of fresh air; great acting and writing
Please change your minds and renew this series. The actors, the scripts, the flavor, it is just great. So little to look forward to on TV these days. We cant lose this one. Keep it going … Please !!!
Please renew the series. We love it. It brings back so many memories of the good old days that we miss so much. It also seems so realistic. I reiterate, please renew!
Love love love this program and so do all our friends. We are 65 to 75 yrs. old and think it’s the best and want it back please!!!!!! BTW there are over 50 of us just in Novato, Ca. change your demographic!!! Consider the people raised in the 60’s!!!!
Renew it! We loved it, and we need resolution after that season finale!!
Luv it… keep it goin for a long time…
i love Public Morals please do not cancel this show..always nice to visit the past…love it and the cast as well..good writing,
Love this movie…please renew it!! Keeps me watching TNT
It’s one of the better offerings on television, where there’s already an overload of stupid reality “shows”, & lame sitcoms, airhead talk hows, etc. It should be renewed-
YES, RENEW IT. WE LOVE IT!
I really enjoyed Public Morals–just got done watching the entire Season 1. I missed it the first time around, but if Season 2 comes about, I will be a loyal follower.
I believe the story line and cast were both very strong. The music, cars and lifestyle brought back many memories of growing up in the sixties.
Keep its a good show
I strongly hope Public Morals is renewed! It is an excellent show, that my wife and I very much enjoy. Season 1 left many subplots unresolved and we will be extremely angry and disappointed if the show is cancelled at this point.
