What would be the smart move? The season one finale of Pure Genius just aired on January 26th, and we want to know if you think CBS should cancel or renew the TV show for a second season.
A medical drama, Pure Genius follows a team of doctors as they team up with cutting-edge tech experts and try to push the boundaries of modern medicine to save lives. Doctor Walter Wallace (Dermot Mulroney) is a disgraced but brilliant surgeon who is recruited by a young Silicon Valley tech billionaire, James Bell (Augustus Prew). Wallace learns that Bell is harboring a secret and he begins to question just what the young founder is really trying to achieve. The cast also includes Odette Annable, Reshma Shetty, Aaron Jennings, Ward Horton, and Brenda Song.
Pure Genius debuted on October 27th with middling ratings for CBS. The pilot earned a 1.05 rating in the 18-49 demo and 6.23 million viewers. From there, the numbers only declined. With only 13 episodes under its belt, season one of the series received an average rating of 0.86 in the 18-49 demo and a total of only 5.34 million viewers. The show’s ratings currently rank third to last out of CBS’ 22 scripted series for the 2016-2017 season.
Given the low ratings and CBS’ decision not to order more episodes, it seems likely Pure Genius will be cancelled.
But, we want to know what you think. Should CBS cancel the medical drama or, renew it for a second season? Tell us what you think.
I thoroughly enjoy this great show! I am truly sorry you are cancelling this series. There is so much junk on tv and I so looked forward each week to a Great And creative show.
I LOVE this show! Please, please, please don’t cancel it. It is so unique and interesting to watch and my husband and I love all the story lines…always anxious to see what will happen next. Acting is great! LOVE IT!!!
I am part of the 18-49 demo and I love Pure Genius!! The thought of it being cancelled is depressing.
Who do we need to contact, email or bug the hell out of to get them to give the show another season to grow it’s audience??
What a great show!! It saddens me that CBS wants to cancel for what appears to be lack of interest in their target audience. I can promise you that those of us who fall in the 50+ are loving this show. Please give the viewers another season and redo data in another 6 months…I’m willing to bet the numbers will improve as this show continues.
Great show.
This is an innovative and cutting edge show with great characters. Finally an intelligent medical show. Keep it!
This is easily one of the best medical shows I’ve seen in a long time. Uplifting and has all the dynamics of a long-term series that I look for with TV. I hope CVS comes to their senses but if they doubt I hope someone else picks it up .
This show is original in that it gives you hope in doctors and the belief that they truly want to help people. Don’t take it away. It’s one of the few shows each week I look forward to.
They should renew the show. It’s very creative and imaginative. It’s on the same level of medical drama that M.A.S.H. was, just without the comedy. This show could go for several years with the right advertising. This is a Great show. I would hate to see it canceled.
“Pure Genius” is a great drama that our family love to watch… my 8, 10 love watching it. My son want to be just like Dr. Wallace and is very inspired by the caring of people whom are in need. Please give Pure Genius a chance. My son is very sad and very disappointed. Come on CBS…. let give one more try….
This is a great show! It isn’t like all the other shows on TV which makes it that much better.
I think the show has real promise and deserves a second season. I enjoyed it and look forward to seeing more of it.
This gives us a glimpse of what the Health Care system could be in our near future. It is an optimistic projection of what an extraordinary health care system can be. PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL THIS SHOW AS CAN BE OUR TEMPLATE OF WHAT IS TO COME!!!!
We love the show! Please don’t cancel it.
Please don’t cancel PURE GENIUS it is so cool to see some of the medical advances that could be….
