What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the CBS television network, Pure Genius is a high-tech medical drama. At Bunker Hill Hospital, Silicon Valley tech titan, James Bell (Augustus Prew), pairs brilliant medical minds with technology gurus and sidesteps bureaucracy in the interest of saving lives — including his own. Bell enlists an exceptional, yet controversial veteran surgeon, Dr. Walter Wallace (Dermot Mulroney) to help him revolutionize health care. As Chief of Staff, Dr. Wallace oversees a trail-blazing team including the candid Dr. Zoe Brockett (Odette Annable); the idealistic and overly literal neurosurgeon, Dr. Talaikha Channarayapatra (Reshma Shetty); former gangbanger Dr. Malik Verlaine (Aaron Jennings); intense neurologist Dr. Scott Strauss (Ward Horton); and tech genius Angie Cheng (Brenda Song).
Season One Ratings
The first season of Pure Genius averaged a 0.86 rating in the 18-49 demographic and drawing an average of 5.34 million viewers. Find out how Pure Genius stacks up against the other CBS TV shows.
On May 15, 2017, it was revealed that Pure Genius has been cancelled so there won’t be a second season. Could it be revived someday? Stay tuned for updates.
Telly’s Take
While CBS has not officially cancelled Pure Genius, this medical drama’s prognosis is grim. In November of 2016, after just four installments had aired, the network passed on ordering the back nine episodes of Pure Genius, season one. The only CBS TV show it outperforms in the demo is Elementary. Right now, it looks like the Pure Genius (likely series) finale will air on January 26th. Barring a miracle, CBS will cancel Pure Genius. I have started circling this one and am all but certain there will be no season two.

Don’t cancel Pure Genius!!
Please don’t cancel this show. There are so few feel good without being totally stupid shows available to watch. I love this show.
Can we just give this she’s show a chance?! Once people watch it, they will over it! It embodies hope, positive use of technology and real possibilities that a terrible prognosis can still have a lead to life! We could all use more of that!
I have enjoyed this show since it premièred. It is an amazing show and the characters are believable. The ingenious therapies and treatments are amazing. I hope that this show comes back. With all the trash on TV it wild be a shame to for CBS to cancel this class show.
A great show with inspirational ideas, too bad that it might not be renewed,,,perhaps more young people should be encouraged to watch so they can get inspired,
I really like this show! The characters are brilliantly played .the best part is that even thou it is a medical show it is not like code black..which I also love ..with blood and stuff always being shown. I can watch this one with small children and not be afraid of what they see.. Please renew. It deserves a second season and a second chance.

Pure Genius is an amazing show! Please do not cancel it! This show leaves you with a feeling of goodness and hope. The story lines draw you in completely and you are rooting for everyone involved. We so desperately need to keep this show going. It is the absolute best!!

You must renew this show. Pure Genius is one of the best shows to come out of last years fall line-up. For me it is “can’t miss tv” — writing is great, as well as acting by Dermot Mulroney and Augustus Prew. Look forward every week to this show and other favorite “This Is Us”. Give this show (and Louis Keating) another chance!
Pure Genius is the “Best Show on Television. With all the Bad News going on in this world this TV Drama is the only thing that lifts my Spirt and gives me Hope that this World is not as Bad as it seems. It helps Dreamers Dream and lets the rest of us believe that anything is possible and it pulls us in and makes us a part of what is happening! Save this show at “ALL COST”! Daniel McKenzie The show is inspiring, the crazy ideas are out of this world, and the heart moments are priceless. Show demonstrates what best in America, innovations and taking chances, something that has disappear in many years.
PURE GENIUS is simply pure genius! My wife and I always watch this show. It is one of our absolute favorites. It is very positive and uplifting…quite a change from most TV shows today! We absolutely love the high technology, which gives hope to our world…whether truth oor fiction.
