Greg Kinnear has found critical and box office success in movies but that’s no guarantee that his Rake TV series will be a ratings hit for FOX. Will it be renewed for a second season or will it be cancelled instead? We’ll have to wait and see.
Rake follows a lawyer (Greg Kinnear) who tries to do good but just can’t seem to get beyond his numerous addictions that cause him so much trouble. The cast also includes John Ortiz, Necar Zadegan, Bojana Novakovic, David Harbour, Tara Summers, Miranda Otto, and Ian Colletti.
The higher a show’s ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better its chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically the following morning, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/7 update: FOX has cancelled this TV series.
6/28 update: You can see the latest night’s ratings in context.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
These are the final national numbers (unless noted with an “*”). These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Rake TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
I love this show in Australia and I am very glad it is being remade for US audiences. US viewers tend to be more staid than Australian ones, so I am not surprised or disappointed that it has been Americanized. It is not the Australian show and I do not expect it to be. I enjoy it for what it is. Although Cleaver Greene/Keegan Dean would probably prefer a Cocaine analogy, the closest I can get is that if the Australian show is Heroin then the US version is Methadone. I do hope they continue both versions.
Greg Kinnear is amazing in this show. I only like 3 shows on Fox at the moment and now you guys are cancelling 2 of them…wow 😮
Love this show!!!! Hope more people give it a chance
Rake should be renewed. Love the show. Greg Kinnear is awesome.
I really love the show – Greg Kinnear has so much charisma….he is the ultimate charming scoundrel…please don’t cancel!!
This show is funny and clever. I hadn’t laugh about any show, nor any show had caught my attention in a while. Greg K I think does a great job. It’s just funny, light, and I keep chuckling with the funny situations, that although a bit unusual are still believable .. You gotta give it a try. I’ve been watching the episodes through comcast Xfinity online. Thumbs up from me
I LOVE this show!!! It’s now my new favorite!!! PLEASE keep it on!! Thanks in advance!!! – Claire
great show give it a chance and it will grow
I really like the show!! I like how the character finds creative ways to ‘represent’ his clients, hope it makes it…come on Fox, give it time!
I Agree! 🙂
I like the show and I like Greg Kinnear very much. It’s entertaining….he does, it’s true have not a lot of redeeming qualities, but that is what makes it entertaining – he’s like “Charlie” on 2 1/2 Men – a scoundrel.
It’s fascinating that one person could be in so much trouble (his debt keeps climbing every show) but he’s like “Dory” – just keeps swimming.
I love this show. I think it is funny and he is very loveable character despite all of his obvious flaws. I don’t understand all of the negative remarks. I have not seen the original from Australia, but I would hope people give it a chance.
The show is good I feel it might have done better on Showtime or HBO. because it’s so borderline and being able to be more explicit would open it up a bit. Maybe even Netflix should pick it up. Rake seems original and I like the cast. Keeper. Fox will mess it up more an likely though.
“He was a character with no redeeming qualities.” If you know what the word “rake” means (and I’m not talking about a garden implement) that’s sort of the point. This character is purposely written as self-indulgent to the fullest extent. You and your husband must not have had the pleasure of seeing the Australian version of this show. If you haven’t, you are doing yourself a great disservice because it is amazing; one of my all-time favorite shows. I’ve watched the first episode of the US remake and will be watching the second in the next day or two. I’m… Read more »
I have not yet watched it, but my husband did. Now, he can watch almost anything, but he hated this show. His words: He was a character with no redeeming qualities. I am still deciding whether or not to watch because I love Greg Kinnear and do not want to ruin our relationship. I’ll continue to think about it and read reviews in here before I watch it!
It was awful. He deserves a better show.
Isn’t this show on Thursdays not Wednesdays? And the premiere date was January 23 so there has only been one episode aired so how do you get two ratings?
The wrong chart was loading. It’s been fixed.
Thank you.
I have a question. How does a show have a negative change in demo for the premiere show?
As for the show, I saw the 16 minute preview for Rake on Hulu. I didn’t like it well enough to tune in for the full show.
First the wrong chart loaded but it’s fixed now.
I actually thought the show got better as it went on. It started slow but by the end it was pretty good. Is it good enough to survive? Only time will tell.
