Heralded as Sarah Michelle Gellar’s return to television, Ringer couldn’t hold onto its audience. The show’s been cancelled after one season and 22 episodes.
As Ringer begins, we meet Bridget (Gellar), a former stripper and recovering alcoholic who’s witnessed a murder and goes to stay with her estranged twin sister Siobhan (also Gellar). Her sister disappears so Bridget takes Siobhan’s place and soon realizes that her sister’s life was more complicated than her own. The TV series also features the talents of Nestor Carbonell, Ioan Gruffudd, Mike Colter, Tara Summers, Kristoffer Polaha, Zoey Deutch, Justin Bruening, Billy Miller, Jason Dohring, Nicole Anderson, and Gage Golightly.
Considering the amount of promotion that The CW put behind it, Ringer’s premiere had to viewed as a bit of a disappointment. It registered a 1.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.84 million total viewers.

In week two, the demo dropped a whopping 25% to a 0.9 rating with 1.94 million. Week thee remained stable but week four plunged 33%.
Over the course of the season, the ratings fluctuated but also dwindled downward. They fell as low as a 0.4 rating (several times) with as few as 1.05 million viewers.
With very few hours of primetime real estate to fill, it just didn’t make sense for The CW to renew Ringer for a second season. They’ve cancelled the show and the last episode aired on April 17th. Since it wasn’t expected to be a series finale, several storylines were left up in the air.
What do you think? Are you disappointed that Ringer has been cancelled and won’t be returning for season two? Why do you think the ratings declined? Was it too hard to follow or just not interesting enough?

LOVE Sarah Michelle Gellar!! I have loved her since Buffy! I only tuned into CW for this show and I loved it!! SO disappointed that we won’t know the end to that story! I hope to see Sarah in another TV show at least, she’s awesome!!!
Ugh! Utterly disappointed at the loss of one of the only decent shows this PBS viewer could find on commercial TV. I looked forward to my Tuesday laundry evenings because of “Ringer.” Networks never know a good thing when they have it. I guess there aren’t enough intelligent viewers out there to keep a show like this afloat while the masses flock to reality shows that do little more than air dirty laundry . . . yuk!
Loved the show… only god show on cw.
Ringer was fantastic. I hated waiting a week for the next episode. It was the best writing I have seen in a long time. Sara Michelle Gellar was great in the duel parts. I will really miss the show and the rest of the cast. I am mad it at least didn’t wrap up. Thats unfair to the loyal fans. Get rid of the reality shows. There getting old. I am getting to the point that I just want to watch Net Flix instead of TV.
I really liked this show and wish it was coming back, I wanted to find out more of what was going to happen.
This really stinks. Now we’ll never know the rest of the story line. Please sell rights to Direct TV’s the 101. Friday night lights got second life there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I loved this show. I’m really disappointed that it’s been cancelled. Some shows you can figure out where they are headed. Other shows have “twists” that make no sense. Ringer had “twists” that made sense and you couldn’t figure out. Love Sarah and her cast. I’m sorry to see this show go! Bring it back!
WHAT A MISTAKE! I’m going to stay away from the CW from now on. This was an excellent story and nothing was resolved. The network should have picked a better time slot. Hopefully another network will pick it up. I’m so upset.
I just resently started watching this network and loved this show guess I’ll stop tuning into CW
I’m REALLY angry and disappointed with the network for canceling this great show. What a shame that the network does not consider the opinion of fans of this GREAT story. To leave us up in the air like that is infuriating. Everyone I know loved the show, we talked about it all the time. The sponsors should pull ads from this network!
I agree with Maggie. Great story plot. I think there was not enough publicity. I looked forward to Revenge and Ringer each week but more excited to watch Ringer. Very disappointed it is not renewed.
What a shame. I loved ringer. It was different. They put some thought into the direction of the show. Every episode I found myself with my mouth wide open at the end because shock after shock kept unfolding. Too bad the show can’t find another home because I think that kind of show should’ve been on a different network. Maybe different demographics were needed. It was a soap opera for the most part and the same kids watching Gossip Girl and Supernatural may not have been able to appreciate Ringer. But what do I know??
Loved the show. Thought it was very interesting and loved the twists and turns. One of the best shows I’ve seen from CW in a long time.
R U kidding me? Great story plot. Ringer and Revenge are my favorites every week. Women love discussing the show and trying to figure out what will happen next week. Great show. Truly disappointed it will not be renewed.
