Heralded as Sarah Michelle Gellar’s return to television, Ringer couldn’t hold onto its audience. The show’s been cancelled after one season and 22 episodes.
As Ringer begins, we meet Bridget (Gellar), a former stripper and recovering alcoholic who’s witnessed a murder and goes to stay with her estranged twin sister Siobhan (also Gellar). Her sister disappears so Bridget takes Siobhan’s place and soon realizes that her sister’s life was more complicated than her own. The TV series also features the talents of Nestor Carbonell, Ioan Gruffudd, Mike Colter, Tara Summers, Kristoffer Polaha, Zoey Deutch, Justin Bruening, Billy Miller, Jason Dohring, Nicole Anderson, and Gage Golightly.
Considering the amount of promotion that The CW put behind it, Ringer’s premiere had to viewed as a bit of a disappointment. It registered a 1.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.84 million total viewers.

In week two, the demo dropped a whopping 25% to a 0.9 rating with 1.94 million. Week thee remained stable but week four plunged 33%.
Over the course of the season, the ratings fluctuated but also dwindled downward. They fell as low as a 0.4 rating (several times) with as few as 1.05 million viewers.
With very few hours of primetime real estate to fill, it just didn’t make sense for The CW to renew Ringer for a second season. They’ve cancelled the show and the last episode aired on April 17th. Since it wasn’t expected to be a series finale, several storylines were left up in the air.
What do you think? Are you disappointed that Ringer has been cancelled and won’t be returning for season two? Why do you think the ratings declined? Was it too hard to follow or just not interesting enough?

This is ABSURD! They should keep this show for the 93% of people that voted on this poll. I absolutely loved this show. Sarah was great in this show as she were on Buffy. I never missed an episode of the show and was so excited when Sarah was back on tv. This really suck! There are barely any show that makes me want to watch them every week. I got one add on to the few other shows that I usually watch and now its gone. Sucks big time!
This is ABSURD! They should keep this show for the 93% of people that voted on this poll. I’ve never missed an episode of the show. Sarah is awesome in this show after Buffy. I really did like this show. I wanted to see the end of what would happen in the show. This really suck big time.
This was my #1 favorite new show this year. My hubby and I watched it week after week. I feel like they didn’t give it enough of a chance before canceling it. It was very complicated though, so someone picking it up in the middle of the season would probably be deterred b/c the story lines wouldn’t make sense to them. I’m so sad! It probably would’ve made a better movie or book trilogy than TV series.
I am pretty disappointed “The Ringer” is getting axed. I really liked this show, it was unique and different. I wish there was a second season but I am sure it will be replaced with yet another reality show. What is this world coming to???
I hate that this is not coming back on My husband and I watched it everyweek never missed a week. This sucks!! 🙁
Loved it and I want to see it back!
It was very unfair to cancel Ringer, was the best debut of the year. Do not understand the TV stations, has programs and much worse still. Ringer needs to have a decent end.
so sad…this was one of my favorite shows….they should at least renew a second season to see if ratings pick up. now we are left eith a big cliffhanger never knowing what happens to some of the charaters.
I’ll not be watching the cw anymore because they cancelled ringer all of us fans begged and pleaded for it to be saved and we were ignored so I’m done
I DO NOT think it should have been canceled! I absolutely love this show. I have’nt been this addicted to a show in quite a while. I truly believe the viewers from this show stoped in week 4 because they had lots of things to go to these past few weeks cuz kids are getting out of school. I personally had to go to these things myself. But I have been very dedicated to this show and I WISH it would come back on 🙁
I’m upset with this for sure! It was one of the best shows on TV! Plenty of crazy stuff to keep me waiting til next week to find out what happens. Now I’m left with a bunch of loose ends. But hey…I imagine there are some new reality shows that I can avoid. 🙁 Hopefully, it will get picked up by a different network and I can at least find out what happens to everyone.
Such a huge mistake on CW’s part. There are so many other shows on that network that deserved to be cancelled instead of The Ringer. I looked forward to the exciting episodes each week, especially the finale – which now left so many things unanswered and up in the air. The CW should really regret this decision. I’d gladly trade Nikita, 90210, America’s Next Top Model, etc. for The Ringer back. Stupid decision CW…stupid decision.
I hate them for cancelling it, I recorded it every week with my IQ. It always the good shows that don’t get 2 stay on. I pay for paytv so we should get to pick what we watch.
I love this show I coulden’t wait to watch it every week so upset.
Just another sign of networks pulling the quick trigger and turning us viewers off. Being willing to give our time to new shows that we BEGIN to like and then leave us hanging without resolve to story lines is a load of … As technology grows I hope doing what they do to us viewers comes back to bite them in the …
Being a single mom with 2 kids I only have a limited amount of shows that I get to watch when they are actually on the air. The Ringer was one that I always wanted to watch, but never knew when it came on. With playing catch up online with my other shows I never had the time to add that one. I finally took the time and looked it up online, it took a couple of episodes, but then I was hooked. I actually lost sleep and watch all of them in like 3 to 4 days only to… Read more »
