Talk about a letdown. The Rise TV show has been cancelled after just one season on NBC. The high school drama from Jason Katims, who knows a thing or two about shows like that, premiered on the Peacock Network on March 13, of 2018. Ratings for the first two episodes were good enough, but the series just couldn’t sustain its performance in the Nielsens, thereafter.
An NBC musical drama, Rise stars Josh Radnor, Rosie Perez, Auli’i Cravalho, Damon J. Gillespie, Marley Shelton, Rarmian Newton, Ted Sutherland, Amy Forsyth, Casey W. Johnson, Taylor Richardson, Joe Tippett, and Shirley Rumierk. The series centers on Lou Mazzuchelli (Radnor), who is the fictional analogue to Lou Volpe in the Michael Sokolov book, Drama High. Although he is committed to his students at Stanton High School, Lou knows he needs to shake things up, in order to rekindle his passion for teaching. To that end, he petitions to direct the school’s theater program, but soon realizes he signed up for a whole lot more than he originally expected.
Rise: A Look at the Ratings

What do you think? Did you watch the first season of the Rise TV series on NBC? If it were up to you, would it have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Rise is an awesome show. I loved the characters and couldn’t wait to find out what happens next. Very disappointed that it is cancelled.
You’ve got to be kidding…you cancelled RISE?!?! The best new show of last year?! I couldn’t wait for Season II & after googling it to check when the new season starts, I’m baffled! So just what are you replacing it with?! NOTHING will even come close to matching RISE…so so so disappointed!!!!!!
Renew Rise. Definitely do a second season. It was such a great show.
Please bring Rise back for season 2!! I just finished the first season and it brought me to tears, absolutely incredible! What an inspiring tv show, so hooked and now you’ve cancelled it…. what a bummer. #bringitback
It shouldn’t be canceled. I just think not enough people have seen it. Please don’t cancel it. I love this series. I can’t really describe how much I loved and enjoyed it.
It’s the most amazing and the most realistic, the most beautiful, passionate TV series I have ever seen. I mean if you just watch the last episode of this season where they put the whole show together you will be mesmerized by it. This series is about will and fighting for what you believe in. It seriously inspired me.
Why are you canceling Rise
Such a good show. Finally a good show for tv and then you cancel it. Bring back the show please
I really liked it. Putting on Spring Awakening was a bold move. The play was fantastic in person and I loved the side stories on the show. As usual the show is not being given a chance to mature. It’s a shame. Glee was a milestone in television history but we will never see that again. We are just stuck with reality Dancing and singing contests with judges that say stupid things.
We all miss RISE. Please join us and Tweet daily #Saverise #Riseagain #Renewrise @nbc
This show is amazing and the fan base continues to grow. We deserve season 2!!
Just finished season 1 on Hulu. Started watching it when it first came out on Hulu. I’m so disappointed that there won’t be a season 2. It was like glee but better. More intense. More eye opening. A little bit closer to home. I really hope there’s a chance y’all can bring it back.
Dont do it i love this show.
Please reconsider cancelling RISE. I love this show.
NBC is wrong about this show. The cast was exceptional and the storyline was good. Big fail canceling this show so disappointing. As a teacher this show really resonated with me and it really speaks to the truth of what is going on in today’s schools and with teens today.
I truly enjoyed the show, it was not a heavy drama, showed real school problems, what teachers have to go through, etc. it was nice to not see guns, killings, not to hear really offensive language, good show.
I loved this show. Miserable it was cancelled.
