Tonight’s sixth season finale of Royal Pains ends with a cliffhanger. How’s it been doing in the ratings? Will the USA series return for a seventh season or will it be cancelled instead?
Royal Pains follows the continuing adventures of a former ER doctor (Mark Feuerstein) from New York who, along with his younger brother (Paulo Costanzo), runs a concierge doctor business in The Hamptons. The show’s cast includes Reshma Shetty, Brooke D’Orsay, Campbell Scott, and Ben Shenkman.
Year-to-year, Royal Pains is way down in the ratings. Compared to season five’s numbers, season six is down by a whopping 43% in viewership (averaging 2.03 million) and is down 35% in the 18-49 demographic (registering a 0.5 rating).
While those numbers are disturbing — and could certainly lead to the show being cancelled — all of USA Network’s scripted series are struggling and the cable channel theoretically can’t cancel everything.
Of the show’s chances for a renewal, co-creator and executive producer Andrew Lenchewski told TV Guide, “We’re optimists at heart and we think that the storytelling that we’ve done and the way the show has performed hopefully will earn us a Season 7. We really tried very hard not to let that uncertainty dictate how we wrapped up our stories this season. We really just wanted to tell the best stories we could with the most satisfying conclusions that we could and at the same time, make sure that we left room for new stories to be told if we do get the opportunity to continue.”
What do you think? Are you hoping that Royal Pains returns for season seven — or is it time for the series to be cancelled?
Look forward watching every week. Such a good, clean story with great characters Please don’t cancel..

Love Royal Pains .It’s my favorite show now that i found it . Please don’t discontinue it .All the actors are perfect with their respective parts making it another great series . The episodes in Cuba were especially appealing . I have purchased all episodes to date and am looking forward to buying many many more in the future .
Please KEEP Royal Pains going!’ Season 6 was WAY TOO SHORT!!
There is still so much story line for the show and the characters!!
Despite the fact they need better technical advisors on this show to help make some of their medical procedures and terminology more accurate (it’s orthostatic HYPOtension, guys; no such thing as orthostatic HYPERtension), I try to overlook most of those mistakes and focus more on character development and storyline. It’s actually a “feel good” type of show which generally features happy endings. Although I’m a retired nurse, I try not to dwell on “hokey” aspects of their medical miracles out in the field and just enjoy the writing and plot twists.
My wife and I love the show We were not aware of the show till I saw it on Netflix. We liked it so much that we watched all 75 episodes in a two week period. Now we want to see the newest episodes. We are not in the 18 to 49 age bracket more like the 58 to 66 Very refreshing show love all the characters. Now where trying to find what channel that covered by Time Warner
