Last season, it looked like Rules of Engagement was being cancelled by CBS when the network decided to order just 13 episodes. Though the network denied the show was coming a close, a source close to the production told us that the cast and crew believed it was the end.
In May, CBS cancelled ¡ROB! and renewed Rules of Engagement for a seventh season at the last minute. It’s expected to return sometime mid-season.
In a recent interview with Reuters, series star David Spade said that he expects there to be just 13 episodes this time around — and that those will be the show’s last.
The actor said that he feels like CBS treats Rules of Engagement like a mistress as they keep the show on the air while they keep searching for a replacement. He joked, “They go out and try to find a new girlfriend and it doesn’t work and they run back and they go: ‘No, no, you’re good, you’re good.’ And it doesn’t work with girls and it seems to work with shows, I guess.”
What do you think? Do you think that Spade is right, that Rules of Engagement will finally be cancelled? Is it time? Will you miss it?
I love this show. There really are only a few good comedies on tv and it would b a shame to see them cancel it. If they do, hopefully, the writers will write the proper ending that this good show deserves.
MIKE AND MOLLY AND TWO STUPID GIRLS
NOT TO MENTION THE STUPID REALITY SHOWS
REALLY! THIS SHOW IS A TON BETTER:)
Looks like CBS’ new Monday night comedy “Partners” is getting off to a poor start in the ratings. Maybe it’s time to drag out “Rules of Engagement” yet again as a mid-season replacement for another new comedy series that bombed!
It seems unlikely to get another season, and then you have to ask, does the cast even want to do another season? I mean seven seasons of “will they?” or “won’t they?” has to be getting to these guys. If the writers are smart they will plan for the 13th episode as the series ending with the couple getting married. If they really think it has any chance of getting renewed, they can have Timmy get engaged or something. It would suck creatively for this show to have a chance to write a satisfying ending for its fans and get… Read more »
We hope this show isn’t cancelled! It shows there is someone out there that can come up with something new vs relying on the most ridiculous reality shows that make us want to turn off the TV for good.
I’d hate to see it cancelled. I enjoy all the characters and appreciate the grown-up humor. Although bringing a baby into the mix is classic “jump the shark”…
Sara Rue must be hoping it’s back soon, shes been pregnant with Jeff and Audrey’s baby since April 2011!
Hope it’s not cancelled. This was the best season yet, and it has the potential to be even better next season. I’d miss it and hope CBS realizes they should stick with this show.
Well to be fair it should have been cancelled years before this but at this point they might as well keep running it because there is nothing like redundancy to make the public happy right?
Dont cancel the show, it’s a good show, with decent content. Don’t think that CBS is being fair to the actors with this on/off , can’t decide weather to renew it or not. Hell I’m a loyal viewer and can’t find it on the schedule.
RoE would be better without David Spade. That’s one reason I don’t watch it, he ruins it.
This show is fantastic – there’s no way it should be cancelled
Love the show “Rules of Engagement” and hope it isn’t cancelled. A great comedy that speaks to what we do the most, relationships.
Well if you believe in jinxes, I believe he just jinxed it.
Season 6 was the best season yet. How rare is that? Usually a show gets worse as it goes along. I will definitely miss it if it’s canceled!
