Was tonight’s episode the end for the Salvation TV show? Viewers of the CBS summer drama series were likely shocked by tonight’s finale and it seems unlikely that the cliffhanger will ever be resolved. Do you think the network should renew Salvation for a third season, despite some very low ratings?
A CBS suspense drama, Salvation, stars Santiago Cabrera, Jennifer Finnigan, Charlie Rowe, Jacqueline Byers, Melia Kreiling, Ashley Thomas, and Ian Anthony Dale. The thriller follows MIT graduate student Liam Cole (Rowe) and tech genius Darius Tanz (Cabrera), who discover that in six months, a huge asteroid will crash into the Earth. In season two, the truth is out. Now that it is no longer a secret, the impending threat elicits both the best and worst from humanity.
The TV series debuted in July 2017 and drew pretty mediocre ratings right from the start with a 0.70 rating in the 18-489 demographic and 4.90 million viewers. The numbers didn’t get any better as the season progressed and ended up averaging a 0.52 in the demo with 3.53 million. Despite the lackluster ratings, Salvation scored a second season renewal.
In season two, the ratings have been even lower. The 12 episodes that have aired thus far have averaged a 0.33 demo rating with 2.67 million viewers. Compared to the first season’s numbers, that’s down by 38% and 24%, respectively.
It’s unclear if CBS Television Studios has a special streaming deal that would help reduce some of the production costs for this series (ala Zoo) but it seems clear that the regular commercial ratings aren’t strong enough to land Salvation a third season.
But, what do you think? Do you think that Salvation should be cancelled or, renewed for a third season — despite the low ratings? Would you watch season three?
Are you kidding me right now? So many questions left unanswered! Will Grace Barrows stay married to Harris Edwards? Is there a future for her and Darius Tanns now that the light (asteroid) making it’s way to earth has stopped and didn’t kill the millions of people as everyone exspected to happen? And what now, if the government returns to full original leadership and power, will happen to the people of the Q-13 group held up in the rocket ship? Please renew. There are so many questions and so little time……! Right?
I hope they have a season 3.
this is one of the best shows to come along for a long time. one of the very few times i have searched for a show with looking forward to 3rd season.
Only Monday night tv I watched: Salvation (like to see it wrapped up & what the UFO is all about.
Hell yeah!! SEASON 3 ALL DAY COME ON YOU HAVE TO PICK IT UP!
Heck yeah season 3 ! A UFO just showed up and that’s awesomesauce.
Hope they bring it back. I missed a few episodes but I am a fan. I found the characters and the drama intriguing and would like to see more.
what sorta stupidass question is this… THE ALIENS HAVE ARRIVED!!!
..i repeat. – THE ALIENS. HAVE. ARRIVED!!!
you really wanna end it now??
Lol that made me laugh!
Salvation is one of my favorite shows. The storylines are well done and the acting is exceptional. Great summer show…..Please renew it…..Just watched the new show FBI and it is terrible. Actors sound like they are reading their lines and poorly, too. How could CBS let Salvation go?
Salvation a wonderful show I have ever seen . It’s really amazing . At the end of salvation show it’s really suspense that I couldn’t believe.
Now I became big fan to “Darius Tanz sir”….. But I don’t know why the ratings are less ..?? Eagerly waiting for season 3…..with hope:)
I very much hope there will be a season 3. Lots of room for storytelling after that Season 2 ending. Bring it back!
I love Salvation, and have no idea why the ratings are low. Maybe CBS has failed to promote it. One of the main reasons I pay for All Access is Salvation.
I would probably watch but, honestly, I do not think it should continue for two reasons:
(1) no one will ever improve on this ending; and,
(2) when a show starts repeating its central themes clearly because it has run out of writing runway and with it, viable ideas, it’s time to end it.
The time has come for Salvation.
I would definitely watch Series 3. Remember, there is nothing on TV during the Summer, so I think the ratings would pick up if we advertised it a bit more.
Talk about suspense! I tape and watch earlier in the day so I can get to sleep. Fingers crossed for Season 3. Maybe the powers in the “whatever it is” can stop a cancellation decision. If not we need to develop a “saving sail”, powered by an EM save drive and fire a “derail decision device” within 180 days .
Great series reference!
