Saved by the Bell: The College Years aired only one season on NBC before it was cancelled. The executive producer of the series, Peter Engel, spoke about the series and his biggest regret about it.
He said the following, according to The Wrap:
“I should’ve taken all the six kids to college. I should’ve insisted we take them all and I didn’t. It was my decision and I made a mistake. I was trying to make it different than ‘Bell’ and I think we made it too different. I think we lost some of our — what’s the word? — innocence.”
The spin-off included most of the regular series. Tiffani Thiessen joined after the pilot, and Mario Lopez, Dustin Diamond, and Mark Paul Gosselaar also starred on the series. Elizabeth Berkeley and Lark Voorhies only appeared on the series finale.
Would you have wanted to see more of Saved by the Bell: The College Years? Was it a mistake to not include the entire Saved by the Bell cast? Tell us what you think.
I loved the college years… Still do. I do agree about the Saturday morning time slot though. But look at it this way everything happens for a reason and the cast went on to do lots of other things!
Yes I agree that NBC should’ve put Saved by the bell college years on Saturday mornings
In my opinon I think the show would of lasted a little longer if it was on Saturday mornings like the original show. Also you could of rotated out cast members if they wanted to move on to do other projects. The lineup should have been Saved by the Bell:the College Years, Saved by the Bell: The New Class, California Dreams, Name Your Adventure. Then when Name Your Adventure ended you could replace that with Hang Time.
