FOX drama Shots Fired won’t have a second season. The series creators have said they weren’t ruling out the possibility of a second season but it seems like there won’t be one.
The 10-part drama explores the tense aftermath of two racially charged shootings in a small North Carolina town. The cast includes Sanaa Lathan, Stephan James, Helen Hunt, Richard Dreyfuss, Will Patton, Aisha Hinds, Conor Leslie, and Stephen Moyer.
Not only was Shots Fired planned as a limited series, but the show’s ratings have been pretty poor. Season one, which wraps next Wednesday night, is averaging a 0.89 rating in the 18-49 demo and 3.56 million viewers. Still, the viewership numbers make the drama FOX‘s seventh most-watched scripted series for the 2016-2017 season.
Earlier, creators Gina Prince-Bythewood and Reggie Rock Bythewood said there’s always a chance for a second season down the line.
Word has been that the series wasn’t going to be coming back. Both a network spokesperson and Prince-Bythewood have confirmed that May 24th’s season finale will also be the show’s series finale.

This is really the best thing on TV….it keeps issues and corruption in the light…is that the problem? It makes it too real….the show is a positive for that very reason.

Personally, I think the acting is good but it doesn’t take an intelligent person to figure out that it should not take a entire season on one story line. Really…..maybe if they would have investigated more than the same crime more would have tuned in. I stopped watching 2 weeks ago. Storyline too lomg!!
I’m disappointed that this show will be cancelled. It’s not about any damm ratings and FOX knows that. I love the fact that this show shines light on issues that needs to be seen and since we as a people can’t talk about it without being hateful etc, What the show has to offer will give many an open eye and mind to the realities of what goes on in America.

Don’t cancel it! Advertise it! I only knew about it because it fillmed near my home! Give it a shot, at least another season.

This is a fantastic show. Hell, anything Sanaa Lathan is in is wonderful. But why should we expect any less from Fox. America refuses to deal with her history as well as her present
