FOX drama Shots Fired won’t have a second season. The series creators have said they weren’t ruling out the possibility of a second season but it seems like there won’t be one.
The 10-part drama explores the tense aftermath of two racially charged shootings in a small North Carolina town. The cast includes Sanaa Lathan, Stephan James, Helen Hunt, Richard Dreyfuss, Will Patton, Aisha Hinds, Conor Leslie, and Stephen Moyer.
Not only was Shots Fired planned as a limited series, but the show’s ratings have been pretty poor. Season one, which wraps next Wednesday night, is averaging a 0.89 rating in the 18-49 demo and 3.56 million viewers. Still, the viewership numbers make the drama FOX‘s seventh most-watched scripted series for the 2016-2017 season.
Earlier, creators Gina Prince-Bythewood and Reggie Rock Bythewood said there’s always a chance for a second season down the line.
Word has been that the series wasn’t going to be coming back. Both a network spokesperson and Prince-Bythewood have confirmed that May 24th’s season finale will also be the show’s series finale.

One of the best shows I have ever watched it touched on so many problems in our country in this day in age. It touched my heart and probably so many others across the country they should bring the show back for season two so we can find out what happen to sheriff plat and if Terry can keep up on his promises. Great show!!!! Please bring it back FOX!
Bring Shots Fired Back as A Netflix series. Maybe it didn’t get the publicity and ratings that fox wanted but everyone that I see talking about it likes it . If it’s too real for TV…put it On Netflix.
I love Shots Fired! I hope that someone else picks this show up. I understand it might not have high ratings but it hits close to the real world and people don’t like to deal with that. Please consider a second season with same actors. It was a great show!
I really liked Shots Fired. I’m pissed that it’s cancelled. But yet you keep Star????? SMH!!! I maybe Netflix will pick it up because I feel it was a show worth watching. Plus tour way it ended wwill keep me wondering.
I strongly urge all responsible parties to reconsider cancelling shots fired. I thought the series was very entertaining and educational at best. In a society such as ours with so much hypocrisy, “shots fired” was definitely a shot in the arm…no pun intended.
Well let’s see the Show is about real issues faced in the black community,no gay stuff,corrupt cops and telling the truth about politics and the dirty prison system. Figured it would be cancelled by fox, I’m surprised that network even allowed such a show.

Well, it’s a show that handled complicated issues. That right there would make it hard for the vast majority to watch. I thought it was amazing. But the ADD reality tv watching public in general can’t follow complexities.
This was by far one of the best shows on TV and definitely a eye opener to a lot of situations… please come out with a season 2
Please bring this show back. Shots fired is one of the few shows worth watching. Bring the show back. Its funny how u can keep a show like Lucifer on that BS. But cancel a show that was binging awareness on what’s going on ,or should i say, been going on. Fox step out of your box promote the show.

This was a great show. Please reconsider canceling it. Soon as we get something that sheds light on the real world, you guys want to cancel. Why not cancel empire with all that violence. ….
