FOX drama Shots Fired won’t have a second season. The series creators have said they weren’t ruling out the possibility of a second season but it seems like there won’t be one.
The 10-part drama explores the tense aftermath of two racially charged shootings in a small North Carolina town. The cast includes Sanaa Lathan, Stephan James, Helen Hunt, Richard Dreyfuss, Will Patton, Aisha Hinds, Conor Leslie, and Stephen Moyer.
Not only was Shots Fired planned as a limited series, but the show’s ratings have been pretty poor. Season one, which wraps next Wednesday night, is averaging a 0.89 rating in the 18-49 demo and 3.56 million viewers. Still, the viewership numbers make the drama FOX‘s seventh most-watched scripted series for the 2016-2017 season.
Earlier, creators Gina Prince-Bythewood and Reggie Rock Bythewood said there’s always a chance for a second season down the line.
Word has been that the series wasn’t going to be coming back. Both a network spokesperson and Prince-Bythewood have confirmed that May 24th’s season finale will also be the show’s series finale.

Shots Fired is one of the best shows on Fox. I cannot believe that it will be canceled.

I can’t believe this show will not return. I loved watching this on Wednesday nights, please bring it back for a season two. I feel the ratings would have been a lot better if it was more commercials advertising it. People can’t watch what they’re not aware of. Bring it back please. Thank you.
Of course I would have watched it for many more seasons. It is a shame. Maybe another station like BET or TV One should pick it up

Can’t believe they’re not going to be renewing Shots Fired – I loved the show. Typical networks no idea what good tv is.
Netflix should pick it up or another Network that can see a good thing staring them in the face.

Of course FOX would cancel a show that confronts issues of injustices in the judicial system, and the current state of race relations in this country; now if it were a show with a bunch of shuckin and jivin we could expect a season 2.
How typical. A show as timely and far-reaching as SHORTS FIRED is canceled.

SHOTS FIRED…I accidentally discovered this show by channel-surfing. It was immediately gripping. Watched premier episode and joyfully returned faithfully each of next 9 weeks. Important subject matter, riveting writing. Cast impeccable and stars unknown to me prior to SF. THE LEADS RADIATED CHEMISTRY. Joey’s mother EXCELLENT!
Strong, reputed actors in support. I could go on and on. POINT IS THIS SERIES NEEDS TO CONTINUE PARTICULARLY IN 2017-2018 SOCIAL AND POLITICAL CLIMATE.

I absolutely loved shots fired! My entire family gathered around the tv every week on the edges of our seats!!! We recorded it and watched it again with my mother and our friend each time!!!What a relevant script. Please please please bring it back next season!!!
