FX’s Sons of Anarchy went out in a blaze of glory last night. The series finale drew a 3.32 rating in the 18-49 demographic (about 4.2 million) with 6.393 million total viewers. It’s particularly impressive when you consider that the last episode was more than 90 minutes long, meaning that the finale didn’t finish until nearly midnight on a weeknight.
The show’s previous ratings record was set by the season seven opener which drew a 3.19 in the demo and 6.199 million.
Season seven averaged a 2.4 demo rating with 4.65 million viewers. That was on par with season six and Sons of Anarchy remained the cable channel’s most-watched show.
What do you think? Did you watch the Sons of Anarchy finale? Did you watch it “live”?
Excellent show from beginning to finale ~ I so look forward to what Kurt Sutter and the rest of the crew does in the future. Many of these actors work together on many projects ~
I hate to see SAMCRO ending, like an old friend saying goodbye. But the ending was awesome. Jax flying in his bike, arms like he was taking off, the music, the bird flying just like Jackson choosing his end. I love not seeing him go down, all broken up, only his blood running down the pavement. Thanks so much Kurt for bringing your story to an end in such a bitter sweet way. I will be waiting for your next project. And I will be getting the beautiful complete series, but for now there is Netflix
Well if you’re a Shield fan then you really had to like the irony that Kurt put into the ending
ALTHOUGH NOT IN YOUR 18-49 DEMOGRAPHICS I HAVE BEEN A FAN SINCE THE BEGINNING. EVERY SEASON HAS GOTTEN BETTER THAN THE PREVIOUS AND I SAW THE CAST REALLY GROWING IN THEIR ROLES ON THIS SHOW. SEASON 7 DID NOT DISAPPOINT. IT WAS PROBABLY ONE OF THE BEST ENDINGS TO A SHOW OF THIS MAGNITUDE. FAR BETTER THAN THE SHIELD OR THE SOPRANOS. I THINK THEY DID THIS ONE FULL JUSTICE AND IT ENDED THE WAY THAT IT SHOULD HAVE EVEN IF THE LAST TWO EPISODES WERE TOTAL TEAR JERKERS. WE WILL MISS YOU ALL!
The last episode of SONS OF ANARCHY was perfect! Jax had to die, and it was great to see him do it on his own terms. I will miss the show so much, but eventually, will try to get the DVD collection.
Yes, Mr. Sutter…..you did it! A grand show, with every nuance covered!!
