After a poor start, FOX pulled Sons of Tucson from the schedule. The network maintained that TV show was not cancelled. Well, it is now.
Sons of Tucson follows a sporting goods store clerk (Tyler Labine) who lives in his car. He’s hired by three boys (Benjamin Stockham, Frank Dolce, and Matthew Levy) to play their father for a school meeting after their real dad goes to jail for banking fraud. In case of future emergencies, he moves into their tool shed. The series also features Sarayu Rao, Edwin Habacon, and Natalie Martinez.
The series got off to a poor start with just a 2.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.47 million viewers. Subsequent episodes performed even worse, with number four attracting only a 1.4 rating in the demo and 3.13 million viewers.
The TV show was pulled from the schedule and the network touted it as merely a hiatus and not a cancellation. However, with ratings like these, you could tell that the show’s chances for a second season were in serious doubt.
FOX has now officially cancelled Sons of Tucson but new episodes are still scheduled to start airing on June 6th. The remaining nine installments will air over the summer and the series finale is expected to air on August 1st.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Sons of Tucson won’t be back for season two? Have any ideas on why the show wasn’t a success?

F me sideways… how can they cancel the show. Actually I did NOT contribute at all to keep the show alive, since I discovered this golden nugget on Netflix yesterday. Let’s all spread the word and make sure to tell all of our friends about the show so it can get better ratings in season 2. Worst case scenario… another channel will surely pick it up.
No way! This was one of my favorite shows, I agree, timeslot was a pain – in Australia it was on at 8.30pm on a Saturday night, always had to record it. Will be missed!!
How can a show this great be cancelled? I did know about it before and just finished waching on Netflix and was hoping to see the subsequent seasons. I guess it does make sense that the show had to be canccelled because beside being so hilarious, it also portraited morals and values, and definitely we would want to have that kind of influences, would we? Stupid network….
We watched the entire season in one setting hungover after Halloween. This show was hilarious! WE WANT ANOTHER SEASON!!!!!
ahhh im gonna cry. the show was hilarious and the actors where great. put it in a later time slot. maybe even on a different channel if possible and the show has real potential to be a really popular show.
Yes! Put it on FX with It’s Always Sunny In Philly!!!!
Oh my god! This is terrible, this show was great! I lived in a Military Base and shows like these makes the days go along easier. Please Bring this show back! I just stayed up the half the night to watch the whole season, I can’t believed they would cancel such a great show, it was just like Reaper, every good show can’t seem to stay on T.V. Heck, every time some of Fox’s other show comes on, I would just change the channel seeing how it was just the same generic load of drama that I could just look… Read more »
unbelievable! another great show cancelled… there are very few shows that i enjoy watching; i enjoy good acting and good scripts. those phoney, fake reality shows are a waste of electricity and yet the new and refreshing shows like Sons of Tucson and Lone Star are cancelled.
It sucks big time that Fox cancelled this show, Personally i would have loved to have seen season 2 as i really enjoyed this show. It’s sad to say that Fox themselves didn’t just cancel this show but they practically murdered it by placing it in the wrong timeslot from the beginning. it’s a great show with lots of hilarious moments, and wit and should have been kept on imho. We have too many bs shows like X-Factor, Big Brother, Masterchef etc. stop making more of that and get Sons of Tucson back on the schedule Fox. Do something smart… Read more »
People now-a-days want to watch shows where they show idiots that probably don’t know what 8*8 is. I’ve never watched reality shows like those, and I don’t support giving those type of people money for just being stupid and ignorant. This show had wit, charisma, and chemistry. I found myself laughing at the diabolical plans Labine made to make extra cash and watching the plan end in a hilarious failure. Oh well, back to square one. I hope Fox reconsiders. Give me more sitcoms and good storylines instead of paying idiots just so you can cut the budget. Maybe then… Read more »

Stupid people with no lives of their own watching too many reality shows . ruining tv for the rest of us .
i thought that show was really good, i wanted to see what happened to everyone in the future
The time slot is what killed it. I kept forgetting it was on at 7pm and had to watch it on the website.
