After three seasons, ABC is moving on. The network has cancelled Suburagatory.
Suburgatory continues the story of single dad George Altman (Jeremy Sisto) and his teenage daughter (Jane Levy) after they move from the city an overly wholesome community in the suburbs. This season, the rest of the cast includes Cheryl Hines, Allie Grant, Ana Gasteyer, Chris Parnell, and Carly Chaikin.
The show premiered in September 2011 to a very strong 3.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.8 million viewers. The numbers dwindled downward over the course of the season but the network renewed it for season two anyway.
Season two started off well but once again, the ratings dwindled downward. This time, ABC gave Suburgatory a limited 13 episode renewal.
In season three, the ratings started pretty low and stayed there. The current season has averaged a 1.6 demo rating with 5.44 million viewers. It’s down 27% in the demo when compared to season two’s average.
The network has now decided to call it quits after 57 episodes. The season (now series) finale of Suburgatory will air next Wednesday, May 14th.
What do you think? Are you sorry that this show has been cancelled? Should it have been renewed for season four? Would you watch it on another channel?
I would love to watch season 4
I love this show when just found it on CW and binged the whole three seasons and I’m pissed off because it’s over and then tests like I don’t like I don’t know I just wanted to see more of all these people
just discovered the show on the CW and binged all 3 seasons b/c i fell hard for the characters and witty banter. i truly like liked borderline loved the show. not surprised that Jane Levy and Mrs. Shay went onto more projects but surprised the Dallas and George actors aren’t in more. Dallas won my heart but was a true genius in her role. Same with Dahlia to never smile in 57 episodes. and shame on new series that produce just 6 episodes per season. though going in i knew there were just the 3 seasons on CW, i was… Read more »
just discovered the show and am saddened to see the final episode did not clear up any loose ends. did George and Dallas make up, did Tessa and The Body reuinte? what of the newly weds? Noah’s toddler? Victor? you cannot open this many story lines and not finish any of them. boo on ABC, though i was watching on the CW. could not believe this show was from 2013/2014? back when they actually gave us 13 episodes per season versus the 6 we get now. 57 total and i could have watched a bit longer, at least until all… Read more »
I’m really sorry to hear there’s no other season
I think this show deserves at least a final season, i really wanted to know what was gonna happen next after the final episode from season three
I’m a little disappointed
I watched all three season during the beginning of covid I had assumed they would start releasing new episodes this year didn’t realize that this from 2015. I just found out it was canceled very sad to see it go wouldn’t have started something new if there were only 3 seasons since I get hooked on great shows like thus one.
Just finished watching this tv series for a 3rd time and realised their was a 3rd season and omg I loved it I wish their was at least 22 episodes in the 3rd season if a 4th wasn’t going to take place but would love to know what happened next with test and Ryan it was such a hot cliffhanger of an ending is there a book that continues it on as the show got cancelled i love this story and the characters.
Same I’ve been rewatching this show intermittently over the last three years. I probably know every line by heart. I wish they had t cancelled it
I never have understood why some prime time shows like suburgatory with its witty, funny and entertaining characters and storyline get cancelled while other subpar TV shows undeservingly get 8 seasons or more. Cancelling this show was a big mistake and so disappointing.
its very petty i really was counting on a season 4 verry disapionting
I am watching zoey’s extraordinary playlist and I remember that Jane Levy played in Suburgatory and I had to watch it again. It was a great show and even if Tessa wasn’t to goofy it was more realistic. I loved it. 🙂
