Jermaine Fowler is set to star and co-executive produce the Superior Donuts TV series pilot at CBS. Written and executive produced by The Odd Couple‘s Bob Daily and the cancelled Community‘s Neil Goldman and Garrett Donovan, the comedy is based on the Tracy Letts play of the same name. James Burrows will direct the multi-cam project.
Fowler has been cast as Franco, a donut shop employee. You may recognize this actor, producer, and writer from Friends of the People and CollegeHumor Originals.
Deadline says:
Superior Donuts follows the relationship between the owner of a donut shop, Arthur, his new young employee, Franco (Fowler), and their patrons in a gentrifying neighborhood of Chicago. Fowler’s Franco is a high-energy, fast-talking force of nature who sees Superior Donuts as a symbol of everything he loves about the neighborhood — it’s authentic and real. As Arthur’s new (and only) employee, he’s going to make it his mission to drag the shop — and Arthur — into the 21st century …
What do you think? Do you like the sound of the Superior Donuts TV show? If CBS orders it to series, will you watch? Will someone please get me a donut?
