It looks like the ride is over for Taxi Brooklyn. It’s been cancelled by NBC and won’t be returning for a second season this summer.
Taxi Brooklyn follows Cat Sullivan (Chyler Leigh), a tough NYPD Detective who doesn’t let a demotion to foot patrol stop her from trying to find her father’s killer. She finds an unlikely ally in Leo Romba (Jacky Ido), a taxi driver from Marseille. The rest of the cast includes James Colby, Jose Zuniga, Jennifer Esposito, Bill Heck, Ally Walker, and Raul Casso.
The series debuted last June 25th to an unimpressive 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.34 million viewers. The numbers didn’t improve over the course of the season which averaged a 0.9 rating in the demo and 5.0 million viewers.
The season finale of Taxi Brooklyn aired in September 2014 and there hasn’t been any official word from the network regarding the show’s fate. That’s certainly not a good sign, especially if viewers were hoping to see a second season this summer.
Late last year, executive producer Gary Scott Thompson indicated that things weren’t looking good and that they were “running out of time” — likely an indication that the cast contracts would soon expire. Earlier this year, he wrote that, “If history is any indication, we will probably never have official word” [on Taxi Brooklyn’s fate].
When reporting that Leigh had joined the pilot for Supergirl on CBS, TVLine noted that Taxi Brooklyn would not be returning to NBC for a second season.
NBC licensed the show from EuropaCorp Television so their costs are lower. EuropaCorp could potentially produce a second season and find another US outlet to air it but there’s been no word of that. Thompson has said that “it’s up to nbc.”
What do you think? Did you like the Taxi Brooklyn TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season? Would you watch a second season on another channel?
YES!!!!, for a season 2 NBC.
Bring it back! That was an epic finale and I want to know what happens next. Don’t leave us hanging!
Great show but never heard of it until it came on Netflix. The reason so many people watch reality tv is because networks keep cancelling shows and never give them an ending. Please bring it back at least to give us closure.
Id love a season 2!!! The show was very interesting. I’m watching it on Netflix, just 3 more episodes to go. Ota very depressing knowing that there won’t beanother season.
I thought the show was interesting. I am confused by who is not watching NBC. I really hope the show is produced and picked up by someone.
I loved the show
Great show. Really hoping it comes back out. The ratings was probably bad dew to bad advertising. I didn’t hear about it until May of 1215 on Netflix.
It’s sad when a fresh new family value show is presented and it is deleted after one season!
the cast waS Super. The story of a good partnership and a fresh new theme for law enforcement created enjoyable theories requiring light fantasy.
Liked this show a lot. Please make more!!!!!!!love the taxi driver
bring on season two!
Why would you cancel this show…it just kept getting better and better! Please rethink this decision…the actors were amazing, the plots fascinating…bring it back!!!
Why do they always cancel the good shows , loved taxi Brooklyn and they leave it with an ending like that 🙁
Why Would You Suck Me In Like This && Then Cancel This AMAZING Show ? What Happened To Leo && Aimee? How About Ronnie ?? What About Kat’s Mom??? Come On Dude ! First It Was Hawthorne Now This !! People Don’t Know Good Movies If It Hits Them In The Face!
Why do my favorite shows get canceled? NBC should be bought by Netflix. Taxi Brooklyn has quality writers, great characters and plot changes that keep you come back for more. Why do a handful of TV-critics get to decide what the majority watches? Netflix are you reading this?
Devistated!Brooklyn Taxi is one of the best seriesses. Please broadcast a series2, 3 ….?
