It looks like the ride is over for Taxi Brooklyn. It’s been cancelled by NBC and won’t be returning for a second season this summer.
Taxi Brooklyn follows Cat Sullivan (Chyler Leigh), a tough NYPD Detective who doesn’t let a demotion to foot patrol stop her from trying to find her father’s killer. She finds an unlikely ally in Leo Romba (Jacky Ido), a taxi driver from Marseille. The rest of the cast includes James Colby, Jose Zuniga, Jennifer Esposito, Bill Heck, Ally Walker, and Raul Casso.
The series debuted last June 25th to an unimpressive 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.34 million viewers. The numbers didn’t improve over the course of the season which averaged a 0.9 rating in the demo and 5.0 million viewers.
The season finale of Taxi Brooklyn aired in September 2014 and there hasn’t been any official word from the network regarding the show’s fate. That’s certainly not a good sign, especially if viewers were hoping to see a second season this summer.
Late last year, executive producer Gary Scott Thompson indicated that things weren’t looking good and that they were “running out of time” — likely an indication that the cast contracts would soon expire. Earlier this year, he wrote that, “If history is any indication, we will probably never have official word” [on Taxi Brooklyn’s fate].
When reporting that Leigh had joined the pilot for Supergirl on CBS, TVLine noted that Taxi Brooklyn would not be returning to NBC for a second season.
NBC licensed the show from EuropaCorp Television so their costs are lower. EuropaCorp could potentially produce a second season and find another US outlet to air it but there’s been no word of that. Thompson has said that “it’s up to nbc.”
What do you think? Did you like the Taxi Brooklyn TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season? Would you watch a second season on another channel?
I love this show, you have to bring it back for a second season. I mean everyone wants to knkw what happen to kat, and the taxi driver son and ex wife.
yea I would watch another season on any network!!!! Another great show cancelled!!!
I wanna season 2!!!!!
My daughter and I just began watching this TV Series and were thoroughly enjoying it, until it ended. The ending it currently upholds is much too intense of a cliffhanger to like. Please bring back this series or, at the very least, make a second half of the finale. Thanks much, Kristine.
I really liked Taxi Brooklyn. Sorry it’s been cancelled.
I really liked the show and the characters. I cannot believe they cancelled this show. I must admit that I watched all the episodes on Netflix without having to endure commercials. I often do that because commercials are way out of control! That could be the reason the ratings were bad…the station and not the show.
I thoroughly enjoyed the show, I would certainly like to know how it all worked out for Cat. Yes, I would watch another season.
I really am saddened that taxi Brooklyn won’t be renewed. I wanted to see what was going to happen after the final episode we watched it on Netflix, where it got high review. It was well done and exciting.
With all the garbage on TV this is a show that deserves to be able to find an audience
Such a great show! We really enjoyed it and all the actors involved ~ very disappointing to hear it’s cancelled.
What I would like to know, is NBC paying attention to these post. Looking at all the posts tells me that no one saw any advertisement on this show. I truly enjoyed the series, watched them all on TV. Then I watched them again on netflix. It was funny, exciting , Ido and Cat have great chemistry. This was a great family movie, just like ABC canceled “Cristela” I loved it. It was funny, it reminded me of my family. The critics keep looking for problems, when what they truly need is to just sit back and enjoy whats showing.… Read more »
I love the show Taxi Brooklyn and watched it every week, in the last episode it kind of left you hanging in expectations of a new season. I was very sad to read that there will not be a second season. I hope the directors of NBC will change their mind and bring it back, otherwise I will never know what happens to Cats mother or if she finds her fathers killer, and what happens to Leo’s wife and son and his friend Ronnie. I hope the producers rethink their decision to cancel.
bring this back
I loved taxi Brooklyn and can’t believe I won’t ever find out what happens to Cat. Bring it back please!!
Come on this was a great series, don’t leave us hanging, what happened next,? Enjoy this series so much, come on nbc !!!
