It looks like the ride is over for Taxi Brooklyn. It’s been cancelled by NBC and won’t be returning for a second season this summer.
Taxi Brooklyn follows Cat Sullivan (Chyler Leigh), a tough NYPD Detective who doesn’t let a demotion to foot patrol stop her from trying to find her father’s killer. She finds an unlikely ally in Leo Romba (Jacky Ido), a taxi driver from Marseille. The rest of the cast includes James Colby, Jose Zuniga, Jennifer Esposito, Bill Heck, Ally Walker, and Raul Casso.
The series debuted last June 25th to an unimpressive 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.34 million viewers. The numbers didn’t improve over the course of the season which averaged a 0.9 rating in the demo and 5.0 million viewers.
The season finale of Taxi Brooklyn aired in September 2014 and there hasn’t been any official word from the network regarding the show’s fate. That’s certainly not a good sign, especially if viewers were hoping to see a second season this summer.
Late last year, executive producer Gary Scott Thompson indicated that things weren’t looking good and that they were “running out of time” — likely an indication that the cast contracts would soon expire. Earlier this year, he wrote that, “If history is any indication, we will probably never have official word” [on Taxi Brooklyn’s fate].
When reporting that Leigh had joined the pilot for Supergirl on CBS, TVLine noted that Taxi Brooklyn would not be returning to NBC for a second season.
NBC licensed the show from EuropaCorp Television so their costs are lower. EuropaCorp could potentially produce a second season and find another US outlet to air it but there’s been no word of that. Thompson has said that “it’s up to nbc.”
What do you think? Did you like the Taxi Brooklyn TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season? Would you watch a second season on another channel?
This show was fresh and entertaining, even if a little silly. Kept me watching, feeling and laughing for 12 episodes. The anticipation from the season finale was on par with that of “24”, which was amazing but left us hanging for a while. Give us something. …bring it back. ..close it out with some dignity, like 24 finally did.
Found this show on Netflix. I thought it was great. The actors were funny and complemented one another. The dialogue was excellent and I thought the plot lines were interesting. I guess it just was not debauched and perverted enough to satisfy NBC. I would definitely watch another season. I hope someone with some programming acumen will recognize there is a demographic that likes this show and finds a way to bring it back. Provided the actors are still available. Different actors would ruin the chemistry. Oh well, just my thoughts.
Bring the show back. Or wrap it up in a movie. Give us somethig. I really like the show.
I just binge watched this entire season in one night, and you’re telling me they aren’t going to have a 2nd season!!!! SHAME ON YOU NBC!!!! Just leave us with the cliffhanger? What’s going to happen to Nico? What’s going to happen to Cat? Is Anabella going to get away with everything? Did Frankie die on that boat? Please tell me you guys didn’t kill off Ronnie?
i loved this show please bring season 2
You people are crazy, Taxi Brooklyn is amazing. I just got done watching it on Netflix (where is the first place I heard about this show). It may not of been a realistic show but is funny and entertaining.
Many people would love a second season. OR at LEAST RAP UP with a season finally with an additional episode(s) showing what happens to Niko/mom, Cat’s mom, Gregg, Ronnie. Because that is just too big of a cleft hanger when there is not going to be another season.
You suck taxi Brooklyn was so good!!
Yes that was a good ass show they bogus for not keeping it going
This was a great series. Can’t believe it’s not being continued. So sorry not to see how all the story lines panned out. I hope someone takes it on
I really enjoyed watching taxi Brooklyn and I’ll be honest I would watch season one again but I really do hope they do decide to make season two because the ending of season one was amazing and I would like to see how it really ends
While some of the storylines and characters were too contrived, this series had great potential. I actually found it to be art imitating life. I used to work in NYC and took black car service regularly to my company’s headquarters in Manhattan. On 9/11, I had a driver named Dilly Pierre that reminded me a lot of Leo. He had the same sense of adventure about driving and life.
I’ve been looking forward to season two of Taxi Brooklyn. I would definitely watch theit if it appeared on a different channel. I thought the show was different from any other on TV. I enjoyed the story lines, the writing, the humor, and the cast.
ii loved it enormously. very sad that it is cancelled.
Bring back sesson 2 loved every episode of sesson 1 and now we have been left wondering what’s happing to Leo’s exs wife and son and what lies at steak for kat bring it back bring it back !!!!
Really disgusted that Taxi Brooklyn won’t be returning for a second season. Again we are left with a cliffhanger. Also Glades cancelled on a cliffhanger. Fed up with these huge corporations canceling series.
Bring the show back love it I want to know what happen.
