It looks like the ride is over for Taxi Brooklyn. It’s been cancelled by NBC and won’t be returning for a second season this summer.
Taxi Brooklyn follows Cat Sullivan (Chyler Leigh), a tough NYPD Detective who doesn’t let a demotion to foot patrol stop her from trying to find her father’s killer. She finds an unlikely ally in Leo Romba (Jacky Ido), a taxi driver from Marseille. The rest of the cast includes James Colby, Jose Zuniga, Jennifer Esposito, Bill Heck, Ally Walker, and Raul Casso.
The series debuted last June 25th to an unimpressive 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.34 million viewers. The numbers didn’t improve over the course of the season which averaged a 0.9 rating in the demo and 5.0 million viewers.
The season finale of Taxi Brooklyn aired in September 2014 and there hasn’t been any official word from the network regarding the show’s fate. That’s certainly not a good sign, especially if viewers were hoping to see a second season this summer.
Late last year, executive producer Gary Scott Thompson indicated that things weren’t looking good and that they were “running out of time” — likely an indication that the cast contracts would soon expire. Earlier this year, he wrote that, “If history is any indication, we will probably never have official word” [on Taxi Brooklyn’s fate].
When reporting that Leigh had joined the pilot for Supergirl on CBS, TVLine noted that Taxi Brooklyn would not be returning to NBC for a second season.
NBC licensed the show from EuropaCorp Television so their costs are lower. EuropaCorp could potentially produce a second season and find another US outlet to air it but there’s been no word of that. Thompson has said that “it’s up to nbc.”
What do you think? Did you like the Taxi Brooklyn TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season? Would you watch a second season on another channel?
I’m really disappointed to see that this show has been cancelled. It was wonderful. I love seeing Brooklyn, Cat, The French connection. Everything about it was great. How can you cancel such a great series? We’re starving for good tv, Netflix dramas and ones like this get cancelled. Sucks
I loved this show. I’m ticked it’s not being given another chance. Yet dreck like The Mysteries of Laura gets renewed? No sense.
That’s crazy.. i love that show, the ending was insane… wow.. NBC.. take some freaken prozac, you dont know a good show if it slapped you in the face.. second.,,,, i think it sucks when you guys leave us hanging, no consideration for the public..
It’s called professionalism… cater to your audience..!!
it was so good that show esicpally with kat
This was a GREAT show. I just finished season 1 and you canceled it. You need to bring it back.
Just finished 1st series, an am not liking how this ended. Need to go on to the next series, what up with that??????
NBC can not leave us hanging like that! That’s just so not fair! I watched the entire season an I loved this show! There has got to be a second season. Come on NBC you can’t do this to us. We really want to know what happened with Kats mom, did she die? What about her ex husband not only that with the incident with the crazy chic, then Leo’s son and ex wife. That’s just too much to be left hanging and wondering about! You got to tell u something! Please please do another season!!
We actually saved the last episode of season one so we could see it again before the 2nd season first episode still have hopes someone will pickup the show. Too many of the shows my wife and I enjoy have been cancelled mostly due to money and we don’t meet the demographics which also means money. It’s a shame but that’s the world we live in. We really enjoyed the actors in the show and how they interacted with each other. The show vas very enjoyable.
I just don’t understand how networks cancel shows after one season just when you get to know the characters. What a shame. I really liked this show.
Hey,
Can anyone send these comments to NBC
I thought this was a horrible way to end this show. It was a high octane good show i thought. Everybody i know liked it and thinks it was lousy for the network to end it this way. I hope Netflix will pick it up later and give this show a real chance.
How do you end a story like that and don’t do a 2nd season. Seen it on Netflix and loves it. Bring it back even if its on Netflix
Interesting enough to watch through the season. I thought it developed some potentially intriguing plot lines. They played it safe …. Too sad
Taxi Brooklyn TV Show has been most enjoyable, especially the actors!! I can’t believe they aren’t doing a 2nd season!! Very sad about that!
No one was watching it, as the program was not advertised at all!! I had never heard of it until it was seen on Netflix.
Trust someone else will pick up this show.
How can you cancel a show that ended in suspense like that. I was liking that show. Please renew it and bring a season 2.
yes I too just finished the first season and believe that the network cant stop it there really. the suspense and tone was heating up to the point of whats next someone needs to reconsider and bring in season 2
