It looks like the ride is over for Taxi Brooklyn. It’s been cancelled by NBC and won’t be returning for a second season this summer.
Taxi Brooklyn follows Cat Sullivan (Chyler Leigh), a tough NYPD Detective who doesn’t let a demotion to foot patrol stop her from trying to find her father’s killer. She finds an unlikely ally in Leo Romba (Jacky Ido), a taxi driver from Marseille. The rest of the cast includes James Colby, Jose Zuniga, Jennifer Esposito, Bill Heck, Ally Walker, and Raul Casso.
The series debuted last June 25th to an unimpressive 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.34 million viewers. The numbers didn’t improve over the course of the season which averaged a 0.9 rating in the demo and 5.0 million viewers.
The season finale of Taxi Brooklyn aired in September 2014 and there hasn’t been any official word from the network regarding the show’s fate. That’s certainly not a good sign, especially if viewers were hoping to see a second season this summer.
Late last year, executive producer Gary Scott Thompson indicated that things weren’t looking good and that they were “running out of time” — likely an indication that the cast contracts would soon expire. Earlier this year, he wrote that, “If history is any indication, we will probably never have official word” [on Taxi Brooklyn’s fate].
When reporting that Leigh had joined the pilot for Supergirl on CBS, TVLine noted that Taxi Brooklyn would not be returning to NBC for a second season.
NBC licensed the show from EuropaCorp Television so their costs are lower. EuropaCorp could potentially produce a second season and find another US outlet to air it but there’s been no word of that. Thompson has said that “it’s up to nbc.”
What do you think? Did you like the Taxi Brooklyn TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season? Would you watch a second season on another channel?
Need to keep this going.Awesome show
Need to find out…can’t leave on a cliffhanger!!!
Was a good show. CBS SHOULD PICK IT UP.
I really liked the show. It really wasn’t a comedy but action packed drama. The networks have some pretty awful programs out there, this was not one if them
I would watch another season of Taxi Brooklyn just to find out what happened after Cat lost her ex-husband, father’s reputation, and her mother!! And find out if and how Leon got his family back. It was a traumatic cliffhanger.
My husband and I were separated because of his military assignment. Every time we got together, we watched Taxi Brooklyn. Now that we’ve finished it, we need something to share. Not to mention that cliffhanger of a season finale. Can Netflix produce the series? That’s where we found it in the first place.
Loved the first season. It just got better and better as it went on. I am very disappointed to see no season 2.
Great show, sad to see it dropped.
I enjoyed the show and would definitely watch it if it were brought back.
I am bummed out over it being done. I want more Leo & Cat and movie references….maybe more zombies, too. Ha ha
My family and i enjoy watching the series Taxi Brooklyn. hope it comes back for a second series
Season 2 !!
I loved this show! I would like to see what happens next!
I actually just finished The 1st seaon.. Omg the great shows get canceled… this should not be it was a great show…. needs to be renewed.
I hate to hear it didn’t make it to season 2 a mistake if you ask me.
Brooklyn taxi was very interesting serie. We were waiting season two and we are disapointed.
There is very nice french touch there and the story strarted to get some deeper and better shades. The taxi driver person was charming and refressing roleperson. His made up friend was great also. Short haired heroinne was enough to look the serie. She was like Jean Seberg in boyish clothes and adorable and good actress too. The ending was very dramatic like closing all with death and threat. It has to be continue. We like it.
I really liked Taxi Brooklyn and don’t want it to be done! I sure hope some other network picks it up!
