It looks like the ride is over for Taxi Brooklyn. It’s been cancelled by NBC and won’t be returning for a second season this summer.
Taxi Brooklyn follows Cat Sullivan (Chyler Leigh), a tough NYPD Detective who doesn’t let a demotion to foot patrol stop her from trying to find her father’s killer. She finds an unlikely ally in Leo Romba (Jacky Ido), a taxi driver from Marseille. The rest of the cast includes James Colby, Jose Zuniga, Jennifer Esposito, Bill Heck, Ally Walker, and Raul Casso.
The series debuted last June 25th to an unimpressive 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.34 million viewers. The numbers didn’t improve over the course of the season which averaged a 0.9 rating in the demo and 5.0 million viewers.
The season finale of Taxi Brooklyn aired in September 2014 and there hasn’t been any official word from the network regarding the show’s fate. That’s certainly not a good sign, especially if viewers were hoping to see a second season this summer.
Late last year, executive producer Gary Scott Thompson indicated that things weren’t looking good and that they were “running out of time” — likely an indication that the cast contracts would soon expire. Earlier this year, he wrote that, “If history is any indication, we will probably never have official word” [on Taxi Brooklyn’s fate].
When reporting that Leigh had joined the pilot for Supergirl on CBS, TVLine noted that Taxi Brooklyn would not be returning to NBC for a second season.
NBC licensed the show from EuropaCorp Television so their costs are lower. EuropaCorp could potentially produce a second season and find another US outlet to air it but there’s been no word of that. Thompson has said that “it’s up to nbc.”
What do you think? Did you like the Taxi Brooklyn TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season? Would you watch a second season on another channel?
I saw the first episode yesterday and just now i finished the first season.
ABSOLUTELY need a second season
of course we want another season. What the ???? happened to Ronnie?
I only just started watching this week and I love it!!!! Bring the show back it was so amazing.
I have not heard of this show until this month. I work a lot and rarly have time for TV, even so I still enjoy a show or movie that I can spar time for I found season 1 on Netflix watched the whole season in 1 week loved it truly fun and different from other shows. Couldn’t believe that the show ended with such a big cliff hanger with no flu after.. truly sad and disappointing to want to watch something some big guy throw away without at least ending the story. Very unpleasant
Please bring the show back i really liked this show it was the most interesting show thats ever touched my heart i need this show to come back on because i like it be i feel like there is still a chance for the cops out there to do the right things in life i really respect all the cops out there
I downloaded S01 and I’ve watched the entire season twice. I have given copies to family and friends and everyone loves the dynamics of this series. Why on earth would NBC Cancel this amazing series.
I don’t think NBC gave this program enough chance. I had never heard of this program I accidentally came across it. NBC needs to re launch and back up with marketing Taxi Brooklyn will bring in the ratings give it a chance
I love the show. Season one is currently on rerun and I make sure I don’toss an episode. Third time I’m watching it.
I’m very disappointed that it was cancelled – really enjoy the story line and the character development. I’m surprised it didn’t do better in the ratings –
I want season 2!!
I would watch it on any channel. Perhaps Netflix could pick it up, or Amazon.
Please bring back the show. I love it! It’s one of my top 3 favourites 😉
I loved the show, please bring it back
Awesome show. His about bringing it to Netflix. That’s where I watched it. Never heard about it before then. BRING IT BACK!! BRING IT BACK!! BRING IT BACK!! BRING IT BACK!! BRING IT BACK!! BRING IT BACK!! BRING IT BACK!! BRING IT BACK!! BRING IT BACK!!
It should definitely be a second season the way the first season ended why would you not bring it back for a second season even the 3rd.
The first few episodes seemed silly and rushed, but the later episodes deepened the character development, eased off on the silliness, and strengthened the story line to be more dramatic and complex. The last cliffhanger episode left numerous lines to be resolved. There is great entertainment promise in this maturing series. Someone should pick it up for at least another season.
