The new series on FX, Terriers, has been garnering some solid reviews. But, how did it do in the ratings? Should it continue for many years or be put to sleep…er, cancelled?
Terriers follows a pair of unorthodox and unlicensed private detectives. They’ll take just about any job, no matter how small or how strange. The show stars Donal Logue, Michael Raymond-James, Kimberly Quinn, Laura Allen, Rockmond Dunbar, and Jamie Denbo.
Per the overnight ratings, the Terriers premiere looks to be underwhelming at best. The debut attracted a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and about 1.6 million total viewers. While cable ratings are typically smaller than those of the major networks, FX has seen much better.

To put it in perspective, in September 2008, Sons of Anarchy debuted to a 1.2 rating in the key demo and 2.53 million viewers. This past March, Justified’s premiere brought in a 1.5 demo rating and 4.15 million.
Even Nip/Tuck, which had sharply declined over the years, averaged a 0.8 in the demo and 1.7 million viewers for its final season — in the same Wednesday night timeslot.
So, Terriers has gotten off to a very poor start. FX is planning to pair repeats with new installments of Sons of Anarchy. It seems doubtful but maybe this will help. Right now, it doesn’t look like Terriers will survive past its first season of 13 episodes.
But, what do you think? Is Terriers worth watching or should it be cancelled? Cancel or keep it?

I like this show and hope it continues, I however have not been able to watch the past 2 episodes because I sadly am a Dish Network customer…I hope the dispute between Fox and Dish doesn’t effect the ratings too much 🙁
I like the show and would like to see it another season.
pleeeease DON’T cancel
pleease FX

Dear FX Suits:
This is a great show! It takes time to develop characters. This a fresh perspective on a PI show. Give it a chance!!!
‘Dear FX Suits:’ ha i like it

desperately love terriors
What a phenominal show. I agree with others that the title of the show and even the promo’s leave a are…what’s the best way to put it…well, it took a leap of faith for me to watch the pilot. And damn am I happy that I did. Good acting and the story lines are downright AMAZING. I can’t come up with enough to describe how much I love watching what they’ll do next to stun the audience. What Logue’s character did to the loan officer was downright scary. I love it. If anyone’s on the fence WATCH IT! And catch… Read more »
I never ever reply to this nonsense requests,ut i have to stand my ground . I LOVE TERRIES. Yes I’am hooked at these two , what the heck, even the fake smoking detective. Please don’t cancel this show.
I just got through watching episode 3 and am floored by Donal’s performance. I’ve always liked him. I just loved and laughed my heinie off at that scene when Michael’s character told his fiancee the truth, the way he put his hoodie on, and her response. Good stuff. I can’t believe he’s Renee from True Blood. Terriers should definitely be given a chance. They should keep it real and not get too ccokie-cutter slick. I wonder if they count the numbers of people who watch these shows On-Demand. They should.
I like the show. I consider myself a good judge of decent shows that can get even better given a chance. Terriers should be given a chance. I watched the second episode On-Demand and became an instant fan. The characters and situations seem realistic to me and the two main characters make me laugh often. African-American female, age 52.
I really like TERRIERS. The actors are great and are fresh, new faces. The characters are easy to like and the situations they get into lead to good plots. I am addicted to” SONS ” and the time slot for TERRIERS is perfect for me.
“Terriers” is a smart, funny, entertaining show that deserves to stay on the air. Maybe people were confused from the ads that made it look like a dog show, but rest assured it is far from that. If you’re in the market for a FUN buddy-comedy series with a solid supporting cast and top-notch writing, please watch “Terriers.” You won’t be disappointed. If this doesn’t sound like your cup of tea, stick with “Burn Notice” or “Covert Affairs” or one of the twenty different CSI shows that they pump-out of the factory assembly line.
Please don’t cancel it… I love this show because it’s fresh and different.
I love this show….they better not cancel it!
A fabulous show !!! Well done all around !!! Love the characters and concept and it should without a doubt be renewed. Why more 18-49 aren’t watching this great show is beyond me. Some have suggested the title is misleading. Perhaps. My friend, a dog lover, said terriers are “diggers” and don’t stop when they are on the trail of something. Maybe that’s what they mean. The character of Dolworth is so like “The Dude” in THE BIG LEBOWSKI and it’s really very good characterization by Donal Logue. People have been after Jeff Bridges for years to reprise that role.… Read more »
I like the actors. It’s an ok show. I think it could develop if left alone. Remember Sienfield had a hard time at first. In those days they gave it a change to get an following. But today….it’s all about money. So it wont have that chance. All ratings all the time….Sorry guys if you cant get them in fast enough it doesn’t matter how good the show “can be”, it has to do it NOW…
I liked it…but it could improve…I hope they give it a chance.
WOW! I am so sad to read that the show is not doing well. It is such a great show solid acting and even stronger story lines.
