Though many critics loved the FX series, Terriers just couldn’t attract enough viewers to stay alive. FX has announced the TV show has been officially cancelled.
Terriers follows a pair of unorthodox and unlicensed private detectives. They’ll take just about any job, no matter how small or how strange. The show stars Donal Logue, Michael Raymond-James, Kimberly Quinn, Laura Allen, Rockmond Dunbar, and Jamie Denbo.
The series debuted to a 0.5 rating among the 18-49 demographic and 970,000 total viewers. When compared to other FX shows, that was a poor showing right from the start. The numbers went lower for subsequent episodes and the recent season finale attracted a 0.3 demo rating and 784,000 viewers.
FX President John Landgraf is expected to discuss the decision later today but ultimately the reason for the cancellation seems quite clear.
What do you think? Are you sorry that Terriers won’t be returning for a second season? Why didn’t it catch on? Was it simply a confusing title or something more?

I loved this show and loved the characters. This was one of my favorite shows on TV. I was putting good word out to all my friends while this show was on because i feared this would happen.
What a great show! Just was looking to see when season 2 was going to start and could not believe my eyes when I saw FX cancelled the best show on tv. BOO YOU FX!
“Terriers” was witty, fast-paced, superbly written and well acted. Of course, it’s been cancelled. Why have any tv shows that are not vapid and mindless?
Really??????? What exactly is wrong with u people in charge of what stays and what goes??? The show was really great! Ever consider giving it time to catch on? I didn’t even hear of it til it was almost done. Try promoting it better! Omg… Soooooo sick of the mainstream ******** u people keep cramming down our throats!! By the way, I’ve been to both a hospital and a police station and neither of them are fully employed by “hotties” … I’m just sayin.
Can’t believe FX cancelled this show;I guess quality means nothing to the decision makers..only $$$$$ matter…..yet some of the shows still running on FX suck beyond belief….
Just looking up when season 2 will start and now I feel like I got punched in the gut. This was one of the very best shows on TV. Leave it to pencil pushing “we just are not making enough money lawyers” to cancel something this good and more than likely replace it with pure crap!
No terriers? What is the world coming to? Sure the title might have lacked the immediate grab needed, but with a minimum of time investment the viewer quickly learned of the title’s true identity : a man so devoted to the people in his sad life he resembled that of a lovable, yet abused dog. Donal Logue provided a compelling, yet believable lead character and the supporting cast filled in the spaces in between with style and humor. It’s sad that such quality work will not be rewarded with a second season. Shame on you FX!!
Well I have to say that this sucks.. I mean I loved how I had two great shows to come home during the week, sons of anarchy and then terriers. So can you at least tell me which way they turned? Its the least you could do FX.
Put a great show into an off-season, and what happens? Cancelled. Force feed viewers with crap like “Hell’s Kitchen” and “American Idol”? Build newscasts around it. Way to live up to your “ground-breaking” ways Ruepert… The only ground yer breaking for FOX is for its grave.
I just heard about it!!!
My wife didn’t want to tell me, because I loved the show so much!
That’s really sad!
HELP the producers to not look at the majority, but at me!!!
ME the VIEWER
Gery
absolutely wrong. i was so intensely into this show, i can’t even tell you. i waited all week long. it was the highlight of my week. don’t get me wrong: i work full-time, have 3 kids, etc. not a geek who’s got nothing. it was just soo soo captivating. this was a huge mistake & i’ll relook at watching fx again cuz of this.
I loved this show was one of the better shows on the air. they always do away with the good shows and put mindless crap on the air.
I too am saddened by the cancellation of Terriers. Such a great story line, but it did have a bad title. Maybe that was its only problem?
Wow,
This was the best New show of the season. Can’t believe it is gone. Hope they change there minds.
IT’S NOT FAIR!!!! Why do all the good shows have to be canceled?!? Oh, I hate this! And I can’t believe there’s no another end… PLEASE! CHANGE YOUR MINDS!!!
