As you may recall, ABC started running The Assets on January 2nd but pulled the limited series after just two epipsdes had aired. Now, the network has announced that the show will be returning this summer — for a little while.
The network will start airing the remaining six episodes on Saturday, June 21st, at 9pm. Here’s the schedule:
Saturday, June 21st – “Trip to Vienna”
Saturday, June 28th – “What’s Done is Done”
Saturday, July 5th – “Check Mate”
Saturday, July 12th – “Small Useless Truth”
Saturday, July 19th – “The Straw Poll”
Saturday, July 26st – “Avenger”
The first two episodes are available for viewing online at Hulu.com.
The Assets revolves around the real life events of CIA counter-intelligence officers Sandy Grimes (Jodie Whittaker) and Jeanne Vertefeuille (Harriet Walter) and their search for the most notorious traitor in US History, Aldrich Ames (Paul Rhys). Others in the cast include Stuart Milligan, Julian Ovenden, Christina Cole, and Ralph Brown.
Update: The episodes have been rescheduled. Read the details here.
What do you think? Are you planning to watch the rest of the unaired episodes of The Assets.
I was so pleased to see that ABC had decided to start airing The Assets once again. We were hooked on this show from the start and now it seems it’s being “tinkered” with once more.
Please ABC, have faith in the viewers who truly value intelligent, thought-provoking programing, instead of the usual drivel that network television serves up. I believe shows like this have great potential for capturing viewers if only given the opportunity.
FINALLY they bring it back and then WHOOSH it’s gone again to be replaced by re-runs of Mistresses. REALLY????????? Heck, I’ll buy it on CD, just let me know where. This is so stupid.
Fabulous program. No wonder cable us beating network. They don’t know when they have a good thing. What happened to the July 5 episode?
Please release the remaining 4 episodes. I watch this show with my husband and my high school aged son and we all love it.
I can’t believe that something this good can’t last longer than a handful of episodes. I give up on network TV.
Love the show, it has brains and not the same pablum tv fare!
ABC please finish the series of The Assets after episode 4. It is a terrific series. I love the
show.
Love the show The Assets. It is well done and a true story of esponiage. Aldrich Ames was a traitor to our country. Have seen 4 episodes and please continue to show the rest. It was not on July 5 and how disappointing. I tried to find out if it will be on July 12, did not find it. To drop a series right in the middle seems ludicrous. There are many people who like history instead of the stupid reality shows which I am sure are much cheaper to produce. Don’t have to pay much for the talent, most… Read more »
Loved this intelligent show which depicted a true story many had not heard of. Glad it started again in June BUT, no July 5th episode aired. Cancelled again> When will the networks give us something besides Dumb and Dumber shows?
This is an awesome show, and again a major network cancels a terrific show in favor of dumb and dumber TV. I personally would like to see intelligent TV again, something with real substance. This show touched on something not everyone is aware happened, or how it was revealed. The rating system of shows for the public to watch needs to be revamped. Networks start having FAITH in your decisions to air good programming, stop the let’s just give them another reality, or comedy to appease the public. Start believing in your first decisions to air a good quality show,… Read more »
I really enjoy this show and hope it continues or is picked up by another network!
If your not going to show the rest at least have the decency to put the final episodes on ON DEMAND!
My husband and I were very disappointed that The Assets was cancelled back in January after only two episodes. Then we were delighted in June when we thought the entire series was being brought back to television. Finally, some good intelligent and factual shows on television. Now it appears that the July 5th episode was not aired. I feel as if our television shows are turning into something like the movie “Idiocracy” where our society’s intelligence is dulled and dumbed down to the most basic primitive level. How sad!! L
The show is great. I can not believe it has been cancelled again. If the episodes have already been made what is the problem with allowing them to air? Instead, the network airs already aired programs. Quite disappointing.
Please, ABC. There must be a slot for smart TV, maybe at 1 a.m. on Sundays. We have DVRs. Or run all eight episodes of The Assets in row as a one-night marathon opposite some big sports event.
