To no surprise, the peacock network has renewed one of their highest-rated shows for another season. The Biggest Loser will be back for round 12 during the 2011-12 season.
Last fall’s Biggest Loser 10 averaged a 2.7 in the coveted 18-49 demographic and 7.44 million total viewers. That ranks it as the third-highest rated reality series on the NBC for the season and ties for fourth place in the demo against all of the network’s shows.
So far, the current cycle has been averaging a 3.1 in the demo and 8.68 million viewers. It’s NBC’s highest-rated reality series in the demo and the second-highest show overall, behind The Office.
Season 11 of The Biggest Loser is a couple edition which introduced new trainers Brett Hoebel and Cara Castronuova who join returning trainers Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels. At the start of the competition, host Alison Sweeney offered the 11 pairs of contestants the opportunity to choose which set of trainers would help get them into shape.
NBC will release details of its 2011-12 schedule in May but The Biggest Loser is expected to return in the fall as per usual.
What do you think? Are you glad that the show will be back for another season?

This used to be a good show but it has degenerated into a slobbering cry-fest. I can’t take the crying and I can’t take the “over acting” when the contestants are faced with a new challenge. It’s almost as though someone is coaching them to be as irritating as possible. And Jillian Michaels isn’t a licensed therapist – she needs to stop with the one on one “sessions” with the contestants. Go back to working out, eating right, and losing weight and people might tune in again.
I am excited to start watching the next season, but I am dissapointed that Jillian won’t be back. I also did not like Bret and Cara. They need to train with a more diverse approach.
I would also like to see an episode bringing back last season’s contestants to see how they are doing now.
When they announced that there would be another trainer team I was ecstatic, nothing like forgetting the old Jillian Bob pseudo-competition, which she always won. However the training methods of Cara and Brett are martial arts exclusive with complete neglect of all other fitness and nutrition areas that the contestants need. I’m sure they’re great at working on a normal person, but these are extremely obese contestants, with dysfunctional bodies and broken mentalities necessities who need someone who is experienced at shedding the weight, building lean mass and healing their egos. I’d love to see a return of Kim Lyons… Read more »
Please DO NOT bring back brett and cara or whatever their names are, they SUCK!! They are NOT trainers, they are boxing coaches and half ass at that. If nbc wants to keep up the amount of people who have been watching biggest loser they better find someone else other than brett and cara. In my opinion and from what I’ve read online season 11 has been the worse ever because of those two. FIRE THEM!!!!!
Stop the game playing. No more voting, 2 players below the red line and it is automatic they are gone. If you want to stay, you have to earn your way. No game playing, no alliances, simply work and earn your way to stay!
I’m disappointed in the biggest loser show lately, to much game playing. This will be my last season watching especially if Jillian isn’t back. The players this season discuss me.
Love the show but let’s change it up. Forget the couples. Bring back the blue, red and black teams. Or individuals who are strangers and become teams of two.
Heard that Jillian was not returning after this season.
If that is true, as much as I hate her fake psychiatric breakthroughs, I will no longer watch. OK I probably will, but I HATED the season with the blond trainer that replaced her.
Dear Sir,
I just love this hope you consider this idea show. I was thinking that you could have a speical on the last 11 Biggest Loosers..See what they are doing and if they kept off the weight they lost. It would make a great show and get wonderful ratings.
I really hope you consider this idea.
Thank you
