The end is coming for The Bonnie Hunt Show after two seasons on the air. Hosted by actress and comedian Bonnie Hunt, the Warner Bros. syndicated show has been struggling in the ratings essentially since it debuted.
The series has stayed on the air for two seasons mainly because NBC-owned stations had made a two-year deal. Warners could have pulled the plug last spring but instead showed faith and hoped that ratings would improve. Now that the agreement is coming to an end, so is The Bonnie Hunt Show.
Hunt reportedly gave the bad news to her staff on Monday morning but the cancellation wasn’t officially confirmed until last night.
By all accounts, the daytime series will remain in production and complete the season so there are lots of new episodes to come.
What do you think? Why did the show fail? Is there no room for more than a couple of daytime talk shows, like The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Oprah Winfrey Show? Or, is there something lacking in Hunt’s show?

I am sick that bonnie hunt is being cancelled. She was a bright start to my days since i have retired. When I was working I would tape it and watch it on the weekends. I cant believe other shows are still on that absolutely serve no purpose when Bonnies show was all about doing good for others(be it human or animal). I have been telling all my friends and relatives to watch her if they wanted to feel good and it was a show kids could watch. Please reconsider this terrible decision.
Another ‘clean’ show cancelled! I love the show and try not to miss it. Soon there will be no more decent TV – Change to another time slot if necessary, but don’t cancel!
I loved the Bonnie Hunt Show from the first time I watched it. It originally came on at 10 a.m. where I live, following The View, which I used to love but which has become a screamfest of late. Then this year it was switched to another channel an hour later than it had originally aired. How can ratings increase when a show is tossed about by the networks? I never watch Ellen, seldom watch Oprah, never watch the cooking/talk shows of Martha Stewart and Rachel Ray (I do like Joy Behar’s talk show). I am heartsick that Bonnie is… Read more »
It’s very disappointing. Bonnie is the girl next door!!
I love Don & the rapport she has with her guests and staff.
The network is making a huge mistake. The seriously need to re-consider!!!
I too enjoyed the show. I particularly liked the segments with her Mom Alice. It’s really hard to understand why shows like Maurie, Tyra and the like continue while a show that you could actually watch with children in the room are taken off the air. Really, who makes the decisions for this and how do we get their jobs cancelled!!!
I enjoy the Bonnie Hunt show very much. Unfortunately, I just found it recently but I try not to miss it. She is very kind and gracious to everyone with a great sense of humor-and her mother is wonderful! Ellen I never have watched since she left Fox, was it? Too silly for me. I don’t watch Oprah very much any more, either, since she seems to have left the track she once was on-or perhaps she is following what she wanted to all along. But Bonnie is great with a fine crew that work well together. Too bad the… Read more »
OH MY GOODNESS ~ I’m so saddened by this news! MY WHOLE FAMILY LOVES “The Bonnie Hunt Show”, we watch it everyday. This is so very, very disappointing. PLEASE BRING IT BACK!!!!!!
As usual, lots of room on the networks for trashy t.v. shows that my family refer to collectively as Jerry Springer regardless of who the host is, but once again QUALITY gets cancelled. If any tv exec has the wherewithall to scoop Bonnie up and put her on at a decent hour, I’ll be watching. She is a quality person with a quality show. Our loss!
I am not surprised that the Bonnie Hunt show was cancelled. It’s certainly not because of the show. I have watched all of Bonnie’s shows and movies and love her as an actress and talk-show host. I love hearing her stories about her childhood and I love watching her talk show and the fact that she surrounds herself with her friends and they all just seem like they are having a wonderful time. All of the shows I’ve seen Bonnie in I’ve enjoyed, and they were all cancelled. I personally don’t understand why Tyra is still on and the networks… Read more »
How sad !!!! I love love love Bonnie Hunt, she is funny, witty, and just a lovely person. I watch her show everyday and enjoy it very very much. I agree with Marilyn get rid of The View…..all they do is talk over each other and they louder and louder when doing so,I find Elisabeth that voice..ouch….and if you don’t agree with her all hell breaks loose. Please don’t take Bonnie away such a great show !!!!!
Oh No! Not Bonnie! Please get rid of The View and make room for this great show! Who in the world is making this stupid decision?
The Bonnie Hunt show is a great show! It is such a bummer that they are cancelling it! It is the only talk show that I TiVo and actually watch every day. She is so funny and seems like a great person.
There is nothing wrong with Bonnie Hunt or The Bonnie Hunt Show. The problem is with the Networks. Life with Bonnie was a great sitcom watched every show. The Bonnie Hunt Show Day time talk show is a clean wholesome show. Bonnie has a rare talent she is human and she isn’t afraid to show it. She is human and very caring. She loves life and had alot of GRATITUDE. I wish the networks wouldn’t pull the plyg after 2 years she has alot to offer but, you never to seem to letter shine.. It is yoru loss. Bonnie Hunt… Read more »
The Bonnie Hunt Show is fresh – it’s good, clean fun. Bonnie is tongue-in-cheek with good family values , with a wonderful sense of humor. I have watched her show from Day one. Don is always hilarious. She treats everyone – her friends, guests and the audience with respect – throwing in a bit of the 50’s style humor that we grew up with. I think the time slot of 8 am is too early for all the women who could really enjoy it – it needs to be a bit later in the day – Though I remind all… Read more »
I love the Bonnie Hunt show. She is witty and caring. I think the problem is the time the show aired. Everytime I saw the show I thought it was just as entertaining as Ellen or any other talk show. I hope Bonnie finds another show to do. She is so talented and has comedic timing down to a T. Go Bonnie and Go Alice!
