The end is coming for The Bonnie Hunt Show after two seasons on the air. Hosted by actress and comedian Bonnie Hunt, the Warner Bros. syndicated show has been struggling in the ratings essentially since it debuted.
The series has stayed on the air for two seasons mainly because NBC-owned stations had made a two-year deal. Warners could have pulled the plug last spring but instead showed faith and hoped that ratings would improve. Now that the agreement is coming to an end, so is The Bonnie Hunt Show.
Hunt reportedly gave the bad news to her staff on Monday morning but the cancellation wasn’t officially confirmed until last night.
By all accounts, the daytime series will remain in production and complete the season so there are lots of new episodes to come.
What do you think? Why did the show fail? Is there no room for more than a couple of daytime talk shows, like The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Oprah Winfrey Show? Or, is there something lacking in Hunt’s show?

Bonnie Hunt is a ray of sunshine in the middle of the day and I will miss watching her. Maybe the network didn’t give away enough big stuff like Ellen (which is ridiculous) It just burns me up to see her and her staff go off the air. After Bonnie aired, I never watched Ellen, Bonnie is so much better and more entertaining with her guests, etc. Big Mistake taking her off the air………..I hate soaps and Bonnie was the only fun show to watch in the afternoon.
I don’t *hate* soaps. In fact I am really bummed at losing “As The World Turns”, a favorite since I was a child-a *long* time ago-as well as just losing “Guiding Light”. Now Bonnie Hunt… I have nothing against Oprah, but she has went down a different road I’m not interested in and no longer watch her. I have never cared for Ellen’s show and haven’t watched it since moving to CBS. Once ATWT ends, I will no longer watch CBS at all and have given up using all products of the sponsors of the cancelled shows. I would suggest… Read more »
I hate that the show has been canceled I have watched it since it started and I will really miss the show. I don’t watch all of the negative shows that they have available to watch. I really enjoy everything about the show and it is hard to believe that more people don’t watch this show. She makes you laugh and you always feel optimistic about everything that she does. I wish there was a way to save this program.
After all of these posted comments about Bonnie Hunt’s show, how could it still be cancelled? So many shows that remain on the air are horrible; this is ONE TERRIFIC SHOW!
My husband and I have never laughed so much as we do watching The Bonnie Hunt Show.
When you start your day off with laughter, you can’t go wrong! We don’t watch the news,
we dont’ watch violent shows, maybe we should just NOT watch TV!

I heard the rumor and I say, nooooooooo, say it isn’t so!!!! Maury is on, Jerry Springer is on and yet Bonnie Hunt is canceled. It’s sad what that says for the tv viewers of America! I love you Bonnie and your entire crew. You were the highlight of my day, everyday. Hopefully a cable network will pick you up.
I am so sad the the Bonnie Hunt show is being cancelled. I love love love the show and watch it every day. I have loved all of her shows and really enjoy her quick wit and intellegence. What to do to keep the show on???????????????????
We love Bonnie’s show..a clean afternoon show, don’t have to worry about kids watching, leave her on, PLEASE!
How can “The Bonnie Hunt Show” be cancelled? What survey has been taken to justify this action? My husband and I are retired and watch Bonnie everyday. She is a breath of fresh air in this day and age…no worry if my grandchildren are over that I have to turn the channel when Bonnie is on. I know it will be a good, clean, enjoyable show. She is the best Talk Show Host, bar none. She is always interested in her guests and truly brings out the best in them. There is nothing jaded about Bonnie, unlike Letterman, Leno, and… Read more »
I love the Bonnie Hunt show. There are ads for Oprah and Ellen on TV all the time but not much about Bonnie Hunt. This is a very entertaining, smart and classy show. Our stations carry Dr. Phil 2 times during the day in addition to Wendy Williams and Maury. I don’t think any of these shows hold a candle to the Bonnie Hunt show. What a shame we will be left without this entertaining viewing choice.
There is NOTHING wrong with Bonnie’s show, it is the most refreshing thing out there!
Why are TV executives so blind???
She should be as respected as the big O and E, you trolls!
Taste always loses to trash… yea keep Maury and Dr P around but dump the very classy Ms Hunt.
BBooooooooooooooo Warner Bros & NBC
Please, Warner Bros., reconsider cancelling the Bonnie Hunt Show. It is clean, appeals to moms, kids, animal lovers, those over thirty, heterosexual people around the world! Through Bonnie, we can find the good in life, laugh at ourselves, enjoy others, and take a respite from the ugly, mean old world out there. Give us a break, Warner Bros. We need and love Bonnie and her show!
Well, another one bites the dust. Just because she doesn’t have sex & violence, stupid monologs, the usual pack of ‘I am so famous, aren’t you glad to glaze on me’ tv/movie stars, she’s history. I guess the network isn’t into a show that makes you feel good when it comes off and when it is over. I love the ‘Talk to Mom’ feature, and her interview skills are much more personal than other shows. So, the dumbing down of tv continues. Hopefully Bonnie does go to Chicago or early am. She’s at an odd time on an odd channel.… Read more »
Actually I think she had too much of the “reality” show people on — I mean who really cares to see those crazies anyway? Also, way too much of the dog stuff — nothing wrong with occasionally having a pet segment, but gheez — enough already! She needed more of the stars — loved her crew being involved in the show. I really looked forward to her show but was very disappointed — it just seems to drag on.
I just love her humor. However, I am usually not interested in the majority of her guests and often wondered why she didn’t have more popular or even interesting personalities.
I LOVE THE BONNIE HUNT SHOW. SHE’S FUNNY AND VERY DOWN TO EARTH.
I THINK MARTHA STEWART SHOULD GO INSTEAD-SHE’S BORING!
I am sad to hear The Bonnie Hunt Show is being cancelled because she is so down to earth in everything she does. She is the best. What I think Bonnie should do is come back to Chicago and take over Oprahs headquarters. She has lots of people who will support her here in her home town and we will be able to come see her. We need her back here!!!
