TV show description:
On each episode of this reality series, two families are faced with a decision that could potentially alter their lives forever.
Hard-working American families who’ve been experiencing financial hard times are presented with a briefcase that contains a very large sum of money — $101,000. They must then make a difficult decision — do they keep all of the money for themselves, or do they give all or part of it to another family in need?
They have 72 hours to learn about the other family’s challenging circumstances and make their choice. What they don’t know is that the other family has received an identical briefcase with the same instructions. Each episode culminates with the reveal of each family’s decisions and viewers are then given an update on how the experience and/or the money has changed their lives.
Series Finale:
Episode #6 — Moyas/Vendely-Salgados
The Moya Family: Gabe is and insurance agent and wife Krystal is a stay at home mom. They have six children under the age of 10 and are high school sweethearts whose lives revolve around faith and family. The Moya’s finances hit rock bottom in 2009, but through all the hard times, they remain positive, feel blessed, and are determined to raise their children with strong faith.
The Vendely-Salgado Family: Amari is unemployed and Natalie is a medical assistant. They have three children, all seven and under. Amari and Natalie’s financial situation hit a rough patch when Natalie was laid off from her position as a medical assistant. She has since found another job, but the time unemployed in-between jobs took a toll on the family. In addition there will be extra expenses for Amari’s transition. He was born female, but after giving birth to two children and living as a woman for most of her adult life, he now lives as a man.
In the end, the Moyas give away $10k (keeping $91k) and the Vendely-Salgados give away $15k (keeping $86k).

I believe the episodes were great these people needed help, they had alot of debts, I would love ❤ to have this chance , my husband and my self are both disabled our income is less than 10,000 a year and I would still help another family. Just saying
It should be renewed, but it should include single parent family as well..
Please renew Briefcase. I love the shoe
It’s amazing to me how generous the couples on this show have been! It’s really restored me faith in humanity!
That being said, the episode that aired 6/24 changed my feelings! The Owens couple claims to be living a rastafarian life!?!? Robert was very selfish & how do you give a gift & add strings??
I hope the show continues, please screen the participants & avoid selfish control freaks!!
I enjoyed seeing what each family would decide.
The two women who only kept $400 were totally selfless.
Hope the other couple’s conscience decided to make them equal recipients.
Was sorry to see the series end so quickly.
Sorry it’s being canceled. Finally real people getting real help., this generation is faced with bad politics, job cuts, raises in cost of living, and this show gave hope to us that believe in love & faith. Money can’t buy happiness but some people has had everything taken away ,why not help them?
I make less than $20,000 a year and pay $900 a month for renting a one bedroom apartment not including electric and food. If that is not a struggle these families with houses and cars to which I have none of that are not in dire need for that money as I do.
I am not sure how the families were selected. They appeared to be part of the shrinking middle America, rather the the neediest ones.
I only saw one and a half episodes, so perhaps my assessment is imcorrect.
Was disappointed to go and watch it tonight, but it was not on…
They say they are helping the poor . Poor these people don’t know what poor is . With over 11 hrs overtime almost every week I only make $25,000 a yr . My common law husband lost his job 3 yrs ago and is unable to work due to his neck and back is bad . I try my best to pay bills , meds , the mortgage , animals and Joe . I wouldn’t keep all that money . I wish we could get on this show .
At first I liked it but this episode seems staged too me. Certain things seem to come up at just the right time.
I like the premise of the show and though it is heart warming there are more deserving people who need that money. These people live in homes with cars to travel and everything that goes along with that house. How about people and families that live in apartments struggling with rent and money to pay bills and food? Surely they are more deserving of that money.
No I don’t think it should be cancelled ,there aren’t to many shows worth watching this is one that warms your heart to see people helped and shows that we are willing to give to each other ,Its a wonderful show that gives hope to the world that people are wonderful
I love the show and i wouldn’t be surprised if new twists and turns were to be put in. I have to agree with Charles with the fact that there are good people still in the country.
We really like watching “The. Briefcase”!
Please do not cancel it…
leave it on , it shows that good people still exist , when we need to help each other.
cancel it!.
it puts families in a position that is embarrassing. if someone wants to give 200M away weekly, there are other ways to do so.
totally inappropriate!
That’s your opinion and only your opinion
