It’s case closed for The Code TV show. CBS has cancelled the low-rated drama series so there won’t be a second season. Actress Dana Delaney broke the news via Twitter (see below).
A military legal drama, The Code stars Luke Mitchell, Anna Wood, Ato Essandoh, Phillipa Soo, Raffi Barsoumian, and Delaney. The story unfolds at the Judge Advocate General Headquarters in Quantico, Virginia and centers on the prosecutors, defense lawyers, and investigators who work on the legal challenges facing the U.S. Marine Corps.
The Code got off to a mediocre start in the ratings when it premiered on April 9th. The show drew a 0.73 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 8.13 million viewers. The following week, in its regular timeslot, it fell to a 0.53 rating with 4.45 million. The numbers for the rest of the season didn’t get much better.
In June, CBS pulled the series from the schedule and replaced it with reruns of renewed dramas Magnum PI and God Friended Me. The Code returned from its month-long hiatus this month and the poor ratings got even worse for the four remaining installments.
The first season finale aired last night and, despite having some devoted fans, that will also be the end of the show.
Thank you to all you wonderful people who watched @TheCodeCBS. Last night was our finale and sadly, no more. I’ll never make General. But I loved this cast of stellar actors & know we’ll meet again. Semper Fidelis. 🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/kqjcZBTRzo

Unfortunately it’s true… @TheCodeCBS has come to an end and while I’m disappointed that I don’t get to continue this particular adventure with these stellar humans, I feel very grateful for, and proud of, the show we made. What do you think? Did you enjoy The Code TV show on CBS? Would you have watched a second season of this drama series?
We are so sad to see this show cancelled. It was a great show, and anyone who loved JAG should have been watching this one. I am really hoping someone picks this up and gives it a second chance.
This saddens me….such an amazing show. Definitely one of my favorites. As soon as the last show aired, I quickly googled to see if there was going to be a season 2. Please bring it back…
I personally enjoyed The Code. Fine acting and an overall positive portrayal of the Military showing the people as humans while maintaining loyalty to their Oaths.
Sorry to see it cancelled. Maybe another network will bring it back as the did JAG years ago.
Every show I love gets canceled.
I’m a jinx. 🙁
I enjoyed watching the show. Great cast, good story lines. Well acted. So much better than some of the other shows offered. I’m sorry to hear it is not returning. Good luck to all the cast and crew.
They keep Magnum instead of The Code. Bad move. Typical though.
I did really enjoy watching the tv show ” The Code” as a teenager I remember watching China Beach which Dana Delaney was a Army Medic Collen Mc Murphy . So I’m a very big fan of her as a Actress and I have always had a major loving crush on her. I enjoyed watching the movie Exit to Eden.
I really enjoyed this show. CBS really jerked them around, no wonder there weren’t that many viewers. The cast all did a great job! Dana Delany I love u!!
The Code was one of the bright spots on the CBS schedule. There are way too many “reality” shows.
So sorry to see this go. I loved this show.
I had grown quite fond of The Code, particularly in light of the drivel the Big Three present as “entertainment”. This program was somewhat reminiscent of Jag, another series of which I grown quite fond and which I admired a great deal for it’s look into the military most never even knew existed.
I liked The Code and I am sorry to hear that it is canceled and I like most of the others do not care for reality shows so you can take all of those off and it wouldn’t bother me at all
I am so sorry they have cancelled The Code. I watched every episode and was impressed with the cast. (I have been a HUGE fan of Dana Delaney having watched all episodes of China Beach). The plots of this show were interesting and I cared about the characters. I agree with John who hopes Netflix picks this up. Good luck!!
On the beginning was ok but one off the military girl broke up with the handsome boyfriend the show lost my interest the wiskey cavalier was better and takes two were better and they got cancelled and we have the tv with reality shows that sucks
I love the show. It dealth with serious topics affecting military families and the ones who serve. I thought it was a ensemble cast. It ranks above the usual network drivel and CBS doesn’t care.
Netflix, please pick this show up.
