There won’t be a second season for The Divide. WE tv has cancelled their first scripted series after one season of eight episodes.
A legal drama, The Divide looks at how people struggle with weighing their personal morals with their professional ambitions. Christine Rosa (Marin Ireland) is an impassioned case worker and Adam Page (Damon Gupton) is an equally passionate district attorney. The cast also includes Paul Schneider, Nia Long, Clarke Peters, Chris Bauer, Joe Anderson, and Adam Rothenberg.
In a statement, WE TV said of the cancellation, “We are extremely proud of The Divide and grateful to its brilliant creators, Richard LaGravenese and Tony Goldwyn, and an amazing cast and crew, for bringing this story to life as WE tv’s first scripted series.”
The season ended on August 27th and averaged 362,000 viewers.
What do you think? Did you like watching The Divide TV show on WE tv? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season>
We thoroughly enjoyed watching The Divide – and what a cliff hanger! Not to find out what happened is really disappointing.
It was excellent – I”d love to see it renewed!
bring it back it was just getting good!
Think we should start a petition to at least get one more season. Too many questions left unanswered.
I’ve made 2 at change.org, and someone else has made one at ipetitions. This comment section doesn’t seem to allow hyperlinks, but “RenewTheDivide” has both a Facebook and a Twitter presence, and you can get all the info you need there
So many unanswered questions. Surely there’s a whole season alone to deal with Christine’s father in gaol and ‘the family’, let alone so many other unanswered questions. Why do TV people do this. Finally make something worth watching and cancel. “Not happy Jan”
Enjoyed season 1 and looked forward to season 2. Very disappointed the series was cancelled.
Surely not a good ending. Looking forward to season 2 would be awesome. Truly enjoyed The Divide very much. Very disappointed cancelled.
Netflix should take over the series. Such a great one and we are left with a cliffhanger. This is to great of a show to be dropped.
I am very disappointed that there was not a 2nd season. This was a taught excellent series
I’d like to to a 2nd season, I got engrossed with first season
That so many people are watching this show on Netflix for the first time is, potentially, a great sign! Fans have been trying to get other networks/sites (including Netflix) to take an interest in The Divide since it was canceled over a year ago. If Netflix has started streaming it, they might be testing the waters to see how many of their subscribers would watch a Season 2!
I ditto all that was been said. Very compelling series….and then you leaves hanging. What contributes to a series being cancelled? It only recently showed up on Netflex so it cannot be about popularity. It is a shame.
I really enjoyed The Divide and disgusted that no season 2, there should be a rider in any new contract to state that an ending must be provided. The show October Road was the same except the actors got together to provide a 15 min ending, which ensured all outstanding questions were answered. these producers should not be allowed to keep letting their loyal public down
“…there should be a rider in any new contract to state that an ending must be provided…”
I LOVE that idea!!!
This definitely wasn’t on the producers’ end. Tony Goldwyn is very outspoken against the death penalty; The Divide was his passion project. The issue was that AMC decided at the last minute not to air it, and instead dumped it on WEtv, where it didn’t stand a chance. WEtv has refused to sell the rights to The Divide, but, if it’s streaming on Netflix, maybe something has changed!
Just finished watching Season 1 only to find out there will be no Season 2. So disappointed. Too many questions left unanswered. Hard to find a series I really enjoy as much as I was enjoying this one….any chance WE tv will reconsider and bring this one back….please!
I am sick of getting into a series with Netflix and it gets cancelled. This my third. Done with series on Netflix
