NBC isn’t staying friends with The Enemy Within. The network has cancelled the freshman drama series so there won’t be a second season coming for 2019-20.
A psychological thriller, The Enemy Within stars Jennifer Carpenter, Morris Chestnut, Raza Jaffrey, Kelli Garner, Cassandra Freeman, and Noah Mills. The character-based drama centers on former CIA operative and now infamous traitor Erica Shepherd (Carpenter) and FBI Agent Will Keaton (Chestnut). In order to apprehend a looming threat, Keaton must tap Shepherd’s expertise, even though she’s serving a life sentence in a supermax prison.
The first season of The Enemy Within averaged a 0.74 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.40 million viewers. The defacto series finale aired on May 20th.
Compared to the other scripted NBC TV shows of the 2018-19 season, the series ranks 10th in the demo and seventh in total viewers. Based on the rankings, it would seem like the series would be renewed but the ratings trended downward as the season progressed. Considering that The Enemy Within had The Voice as a lead-in, NBC execs were likely not satisfied with the show’s low retention rate either.
Today, the Peacock Network also cancelled The Village and Abby’s TV shows.

Just watched the entire series of ROSEWOOD. My husband and became addicted to this program are deeply disappointed there are no more episodes. I’d like to see it revived exactly as it was, all the same cast.
It’s a shame this series was cancelled. Thrilling from beginning to end. Whoever was able to land Jennifer for this role should get major credit. Idiots for canceling this show.

I really enjoyed this series. But i guess another reality show will take its place. How stupid is this network. Take a poll we hate reality TV
VEry disappointed that there will not be another season. This was the only show during the Fall that we watched. So sad!
This is the first show in a long time that I was instantly hooked on! I can’t believe such a unique and fast paced series is gone. There’s nothing left to keep me on the edge of my seat! Shame on NBC!

I really Loved the show I couldn’t wait to watch it every week.. If I missed an episode I had to watch it on Demand before the next week… This was 1 0f the 3 series I liked . I am very disappointed…
The Enemy Within is an amazing show. It was hard to wait for the next week to see what was going to happen. I think in a way it kind of left you hanging. That is not fair to the viewers. Maybe put it at a different time or on different day so it doesn’t have competition from other channels. The people I have talked to that watched it was also in love with it.
All of these stupid shows on the air and finally you have a adult thriller one which has everyone waiting for the next episode and it’s cancelled, i was looking all over for this program and just found out after investigating online that is was cancelled, bummer. Someone needs to be fired for this decision.
I agree there are a lot of stupid shows like the reality T.V. … All 3 of the series I really enjoyed watching were cancl’d . So sad…
I really liked this show so of course it’s been canceled. I looked forward to watching it every week. This is one of few that I watched live rather than tape for later. I hope another network is smart enough to pick it up.
My entire family loved this show. We looked forward to it weekly. It needs to get renewed or picked up by another network!
