Of all the new shows this season, it seems like NBC has the highest hopes for The Event. How did the new show do in the ratings? Will it be the next Lost or the next FlashForward?
The Event follows Sean Walker (Jason Ritter), a young man who’s investigating the mysterious disappearance of his girlfriend. He slowly begins to uncover the biggest cover-up in the history of the United States. Others in the cast include Sarah Roemer, Laura Innes, Ian Anthony Dale, Scott Patterson, Clifton Collins Jr., Taylor Cole, Lisa Vidal, Bill Smitrovich, Zeljko Ivanek, and Blair Underwood.
The first episode attracted an average 3.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 10.9 million total viewers. It was in third place in both areas, though it did tie CBS’ Mike & Molly for second place in the demo in the second half hour.

This was a big improvement over last season’s Heroes premiere and built on the Chuck lead-in by 80%. That’s impressive. What’s more, viewership grew as the hour progressed, meaning that people stuck with it and new people even joined in midway.
While this performance is positive, it’s not as big a start as the network wanted. The real test will be to see how well The Event holds up over the next few weeks. AS you may remember, ABC’s FlashForward started with very healthy numbers but viewership dwindled each week and it was ultimately cancelled after one season.
But, what do you think? Do you like The Event? Is it confusing or intriguing? Will you keep watching or should it be cancelled?

Definitely keep it! For god’s sake please let us have entertaining tv back and keep great shows like this. IMO, they should advertise The Event more because I didn’t pick up on it until I caught it on DVR. I was so thrilled. Didn’t know when it was on when it originally aired.
Enough with all this faux reality, reality ‘competition’, reality-dating-reality-fighting, reality-cat-fight nonsense. And on and on. There is too much of that mind-dumbing tv on so we need real shows like this back. PLEASE keep this show.
Keet it!!!!!! It’s a GREAT Show!!!something different.
DON’T CANCEL IT – IT IS THE ONLY SHOW WORTH WATCHING AFTER WATCHING A GODZILLION CSI SHOWS!!!!!
NBC, PLEASE KEEP THE EVENT SHOW!!! I really like this show because it’s the first show that got me interested after LOST show.
Jamie I agree with you when you say that there is nothing interesting to watch on tv since LOST show. Also my favorite character in LOST show was of course Sawyer. xoxoxo
KEEP THE EVENT SHOW!!!
I say keep the show, I can see many different and interesting sub plots building in this show.
Keep it!!! It’s the only show my husband and I have watched consistently this season. We call Monday nights our “date night” and would like to find out what happens next. We are so tired of reality t.v. and it’s so great to have a show that keeps you on the edge of your seat and waiting for the next episode. Hope to see more in February.
I think you should keep it because that will give us something to look forward to on Mondays! My final word is KEEP IT!!!!!!!!
Keep it!!! It is a realistic story and may have a lot of conspiracy believers thinking!!!
If this is leading to the great disclosure known to man kind, then what better way to prepare society. Times have changed people, we need something other that the reality TV scene, what has become of American television!!!
Definitely keep it. A cliff-hanger though I sometimes get lost in the plots. Can’t wait till next season.
Keep it please!! I think it is great!! The story line is believable and does not seem made up as you go along (like LOST). I loved LOST, but never had a clue as to what was going on. I hate the networks when they cancel a show that is good. There is not much on TV that I want to watch anymore.
Oh my gosh you like LOST! I am such a fan of LOST that I sent a letter to Evangeline Lilly. I know we are talking about the event and I say KEEP IT!!!!!!! Anyway in LOST who was your favorite character?
Keep it!!! It’s way better than the other crap on tv. It’s intriguing and awesome. The story line is great. The actors are believable. I hope NBC keeps it. Or I hope another network picks it up. For the intellectual ones out there this show is great.
AMEN!!!
I’ve watched all of the first season, and I think it’s terrific. I don’t know what’s happening half the the time, but i love it that way. It’s so suspenseful. Keep It.
I think they should keep it. I like the story line and the plot. I missed it last when they did not show it. I believe it will attract more viewers if they keep it.
The show is definitely great and intriguing. I don’t understand what this mate David is saying, but the plot definitely builds up excitement. I really hope it stays for more than one season. keep it.
Pilot episode was great, after wasting my time watching 9 more episodes… nothing has happened still. Was that assassination attempt The Event? or are we still waiting for it? Why are they still looking for the kid? 10 episodes in and it’s a ish-show. Cancel it.
What!!!!! You should know that I love it and I don’t care what you say! THey can’t cancel it because if they do I will have nothing to look forward to on mondays. Also I am hoping all those who don’t like it that you should realize they just want to leave you in suspense so you would keep watching. I say KEEP IT PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!
I really hope you find it more interesting!!!
KEEP IT!!!
keep it
