If you need proof that The Firm is doomed to be cancelled by NBC, you just have to look at the show’s ratings. Not only did the new legal series bomb on Thursday nights but it’s currently being trounced on Saturday nights as well — airing opposite CSI: New York repeats, 20/20, and FOX’s forgotten Q’Viva! The Chosen reality series.
The ratings for The Firm have been so poor that one had to start wondering if NBC might bump the series off the Saturday schedule as well. Well, that’s what they’re doing — at least for one week.
This week’s episode of The Firm has been replaced by a rerun of the 90-minute premiere of Fashion Star (which debuts tonight). That will be followed by an encore of the first episode of Betty White’s Off Their Rockers, which first aired in January. Rockers returns to the NBC schedule on April 4th.
On March 24th, NBC has slotted an episode of the USA Network series Fairly Legal at 8pm, a slot that had been filled by reruns of Smash. The network hasn’t announced which episode of Fairly Legal will air but the season two opener (which will run this Friday on USA) seems likely.
The network is shaking up their Saturday night schedule and if they can come up with better numbers than what The Firm has been getting, the legal drama could easily be off the schedule for good. NBC has aired just 10 of the show’s 22 episodes thus far.
What do you think? Are you still watching NBC’s The Firm? Do you watch the episodes on Saturday nights, on demand or online? Would you be upset if NBC pulled it for good?

I like the show…back & forth story line is a pain but the show is a whole lot better than the other drek on TV lately. NBC can’t seem to figure out what the public really wants. They should at least let the series run the remaining episodes. I agree with others that if it had more ad time like SMASH perhaps more folks would be likely to watch it.
Love the Firm( how can it be bad ,its John Grisham)I agree that Sat is a bad night for it.But then TV does not have very many good shows . Thank God for DVDS..I like the way The Firm is written and I like the actors. I am sick of reality shows and shows that refer to nothing but sex and young girls in skimpy dresses. You actually need a brain to watch The Firm…( the only network tv show that I watch). I hate commercials but, will put up with them for The Firm…..Please find a way to keep it… Read more »
It’s sad how stupid people are today. They want to watch repeats and new shows that just repeat old shows. I’m sorry, but that’s stupid. If you can’t keep up with a show because you can’t follow the story line, that’s not a bad show, your just stupid. I want to watch a show that I don’t know every word about to be said. I can do that with nearly all the shows that are considered action or drama(EXCEPT FOR Game of Throne, The River, Fringe, Supernatural, and Luck.). Don’t get me wrong, I love comedies like Happy Endings, Community,… Read more »
Great show. If you promoted it half as much as SMASH, you might have given it a shot. The cast was great including Josh Lucas but also Juliette Lewis, Callum Rennie. Pretty much perfect casting. Plot is engaging. Can’t see any reason to dump the show and I think it just never got properly promoted.
I love this show. I watched when it was on Thursdays, and dvr it since it switched to Saturday. I knew it was doomed when they changed it, but have kept watching hoping by some miracle it will get saved (like Friday Night Lights or Southland were). I agree that there is so much crap on TV and it always irritating when you invest time in a good show and they cancel it.
I LOVE The Firm- great acting, esp. by Callum K Rennie and Juliet Lewis! I will parrot what others have said- this show makes you think- something lacking in most other network tv. Sad that NBC didn’t promote it or give it a fair chance….I think if it had premiered last fall in a sane time slot- it would have caught on with more viewers. Reminds me of Perry Mason- makes you think.
I watch very little TV – Jeopardy, Dateline – but I really enjoy The Firm. I make sure I tape it each week just in case I’m not home to watch it. When I checked today’s TV listings I found that it was not on tonight. This is a very thought provoking show with great characters; I will be sorely disappointed if it is cancelled!
The Firm is one of the best new series this season. Great cast, storyline and time slot. Please don’t cancel! If cancelled, hopefully it would be picked up by another network, that doesn’t have the tendency to cancel good shows as often as NBC does.
Definitely want to see this show continue I too tape it every week and want to see all the episodes that were made please !!
My husband and I really love the show. I couldn’t wait for tonight to come and here I learn that the fuzzy headled leftists of NBC aren’t running it tonight.
The Firm caters to the ADD crowd by trying to maintain two stories in two time lines. I was willing to put up with it for a while when it looked like the “six weeks ago, four weeks ago, etc” sequence was eventually going to catch up with the present. But when that happened, they jumped the present story ahead another few weeks. This is no way to tell a story. TV shows tend to develop fads. For a while it was the split screen effect where we could see a story unfolding from two different viewpoints at the same… Read more »
I like the show and have watched each episode. I hope they at least show this season of the show. I hate when shows are cancelled in mid season. It is not fair to the people who have watched it and want to know what happens
Why do the networks load all the good shows on a Thursday night? There is alread strong competition Thursday nights with Grey Anatomy and Private Practice to name a few. Why not try a different night like Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday’s when TV sucks. I am so tired of all the reality shows with the exception of Survivor. Please keep the Firm on TV!
I agree with everyone else. I love this show (I also liked Undercovers) The Firm is my favorite new show this year. I am really going to miss it if it is cancelled. I also agree that they never gave it a fair chance. And moving it to Saturday, where we almost missed it was unfair. It is a good thing my DVR got it.
“The Firm” is a compelling, excellent legal drama! The rather bizarre, ever-changing scheduling of this good show, and its final landing on a Saturday night is why failure is being discussed. NBC should know better than to jerk a brand new show all over a week’s schedule!! I really hope someone comes to their senses, finds a schedule slot and stays there for a fair amount of time. This show was certainly nit given a fiar shake!!
