Last May, fans of The CW’s sitcom, The Game, were upset to learn that the sitcom had been cancelled after three seasons on the air. Though there was some resolution in the last episode, it was hardly satisfying enough for devoted viewers. The web has recently been abuzz with news that the show is coming back but can you believe it?
Created by Mara Brock Akil, The Game began as a spin-off of the long-running comedy, Girlfriends. The series centers around a first year medical student (Tia Mowry) who chooses to follow her pro-football boyfriend (Pooch Hall) to San Diego. Others in the cast include Brittany Daniel, Coby Bell, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Hosea Chanchez, and Barry Floyd.
Even before the show was cancelled by the CW, there was talk about the possibility of Black Entertainment Television (BET) picking up the show for a fourth year. The cable-channel has been playing the sitcom repeats and the show fits in with their other programming.
In July, Mowry told TV Guide, “[BET chairman and CEO] Debra Lee is trying everything and anything to make this happen. The Game gets higher ratings than BET’s original programming, and we’ve heard there would be a huge marketing campaign. So I personally believe the show would be taken to another level.”

Unfortunately, there’s been little word of any real progress since then. Last week, rumors started circulating that a deal had been struck between BET and the show’s studio, CBS Television. Unfortunately, they turned out to be false.
Last night, Mowry put the rumors to rest. Via her Twitter account, she wrote, “I am so sorry to tell you this, this whole THE GAME thing getting picked up is NOT true! After talking to agents lawyers etc it is not true.” A deal may still happen but, for the moment, there isn’t one.
When or if a new deal is made, it remains to be seen how it would work. The contracts for the cast and creatives have lapsed so new ones would have to be negotiated. Because BET has less money to spend, they’d likely have to take pay cuts.
On top of that, some of those involved with the show have also moved on to other projects and may not be available. Hall is working on CBS’ new sitcom Accidentally on Purpose, Mowry has several projects in the works, and Akil is part of ABC’s new Cougar Town comedy with Courteney Cox Arquette.

If they dont have a 4 season it will be nothing to watch on tv this is the only black show that is good to watch we need the game we cant come home to nothing on tv how many times i have to say it if they renew it it will last for more than 3 years
What is the problem……if you can find money for everything else…why not find the money for this show…..I agree with all the fans, keep this show going…..Its worth watching…….
The Game is a show that I watch faithfully so to take it off air just like is some Bul**it… I thought it was coming back on September 30rd…. Somebody needs to pick it up….. Janay just had her baby, melanie and derwin got married, tasha and rick was gettn back together and jason was finally moving on with Camille (stacy dash) and kelly wanted jason back……. And that’s how yall gone leave it???????

It is a shame that The Game is leaving television with such a great fan base.
I am very disapointed that yet another good show (THE GAME) is cancelled from the CW. It seems that the shows time slot kept changing and eventually was put in a Friday time slot when less viewers are home to enjoy this great show. PLEASE BRING THIS SHOW BACK!! The CW has opted to cancel a new show “THE BEAUTIFUL LIFE” after 2 shows. So there is a time slot open. Do the right thing and bring this GREAT CAST AND CREW back for our enjoyment. The show is greatly missed.
The Game NEEDS another season. Doesn’t matter if its on BET or The CW, just bring it back!
ABSOLUTELY!! I love this game and would watch it in any format..so many committed fans tried so hard to keep the show on CW. I think the cast owes it to us to give of atleast one last season regardless of the pay cut. We loved that show and proved it with our actions…now its their turn…do they really love us as much as they claim?

yes! it would be worth watching. I just laughed to myself when I saw the other CW shows that got put on this season instead of The Game and Everybody Hates Chris …… they have terrible ratings/got canceled. Thats a sign that the idea they were pushing for was crap and they should have just left the shows people actually love… like the game… on the air
