As expected, ABC has cancelled The Gates after one season on the air. The ratings certainly didn’t dictate a second season and a couple weeks ago, series star Frank Grillo said that he’d heard unofficially that the show wouldn’t be back.
Though even actress Lindsay Lohan wanted to see it return, it’s now been confirmed that The Gates has indeed been cancelled. Some of the people connected with the show have tweeted about the series’ passing.
From the show’s Twitter feed comes, “We would like to thank our followers for sticking with us through this great journey.”
Gates creator Richard Hatem wrote simply, “Thanks to everyone who loved it. DVD set to be released…someday?”
Consulting producer and writer Robert Hewitt Wolfe tweeted, “Thank you to #TheGates fans, crew & cast for a great run. It was a blast. Seriously some of the best fans ever.” He later posted, “4 sale, lux devlpmnt/incrprtd town w/ upscale owners, prvt police/fire, exclnt school, occasional mysterious death”
Colton L Haynes wrote, “Was a great/fun experience and thk u all for coming along for the ride!. He followed that up with, “THE GATES cast and crew: thk u all for the good times! Learned alot and had a great summer with u all! Cheers to the future!” and posted this photo with #ripBrettCreski. Wolfe responded, “Sob… Too young!”
James Preston looks forward to the future, tweeting, “No worries gates fans follow us on to our new exciting roles!” Travis Caldwell echoed that sentiment, saying, “its all good more to come from all of us !!!”
Justin Miles wrote, “We gave em a hell of a run, though…” Janina Gavankar feels similarly, saying, “Sad. But we’re incredibly proud of what we made.”
Young McKaley Miller tweeted, “thank you guys for all the support!! seriously, y’all are awesome!! #TheGates is officially over, but it was such a great experience!! TY :)”
Andrea Powell wrote, “Thanks for all the love, fans of #TheGates. We’ll miss you! :-*”
Rachel Dipillo wrote, “We had a fun ride on The Gates. Love everyone I worked with and can’t wait to see what you do next! #RIPLEXIEWADE”
Grillo tweeted, “Thanks to all of you for supporting us. It made the whole thing worth it. Lots more fun stuff coming.” Grillo also said that he’d share what would have happened in the second season. After son Charlie is saved, Nick and his family would have stayed in the Gates community. The Radcliffs decide to take a break from one another. Leigh becomes the head of the police and Nick takes over the Gates board and oversees the community.

I just started checking to see when season two would be starting, and was sooooo dissapointed to find out the series has been canceled. The show and cast will definetly be missed.
They don’t care. will they even read this? no. they are too busy creating a show for us to get hooked on just to cancel it after a long 1 season run. you jackasses!!!!! Fun fact: in todays tv world Seinfeld would have also been canceled. that is a proven fact. i think they said Friends also. imagine all the future classics we will never get to know because ABC keeps canceling them!!! give **** a chance!i’d like to see the execs get fired after 1 season…(maniacle laugh). back me up here people!
My wife and I enjoyed the show very much and were very much looking forward to Season Two. It was one of four shows we enjoyed watching and the only one we watched that had commercials. The show was that good that we did not mind the commercial breaks. I think if the show is brought back during the summer there would be a significant spike in the ratings. Either way, we would be happy if ABC were to bring the show back during any time of the year.
Finally a show I really enjoyed and of course it got cancelled. It was a great show…very sad it won’t be back. Don’t understand how all these stupid reality shows stay on the air, but anything actually entertaining gets cancelled.
I am absalutly outstandingly upset to see and hear that the gates wont have a season two. I was waiting to see Charles special powers after he had waken from his death. i wanted to know what Leah was up to and what kind of powers she had. you guys really just hurt my feeling. boohoo boohoo boohoo………! RIP to those who passed away. my condolences to their family and their abc family. the wolf kid was serious. I love you guys stay bless!!!! no hard feelings.
ABC always cancels my favorite shows! i just don’t think I will watch the channel anymore.

Seriously Whats wrong with you people from abc, you finally have a show thats worth staying home for on a friday night and you morons cancell it. It was my best show when you get into a new show on on tv {like drive} {the gates} {invasoin} you cancelled the show im very happy you DID NOT cancell {v} as well.

Just INSANE!!! Gates was a great show! I’d had been waiting for it’s return. It’s getting to where there is NOTHING entertaining on prime time TV. Oh well, no reason to watch ABC anymore!!!
This show IMO was well done, but felt that if it was on a Move Channel like showtime, hbo ( even with true blood ), or Starz would have been much better and the writters would be able to really expand the story lines without their hand being tied.
Maybe SYFY or FX will pick it up and do a second season.
I just came on to see when this was coming back, to find it was cancelled! You guys suck and never give anything a chance unless it gives you the highest ratings ever. So sick of reality TV! Plus you put it on in the summer when everyone is on bloody vacation! I hate giving new shows a chance anymore cause they (especially if I like it) are more then likely going to get cancelled! Think I might give up on your channel!
I have been checking and waiting for The Gates to return for a season two. I was shocked and dissapointed to learn it has been cancelled. With all the terrible things that go on in the world today, killings and attacks, wars, etc.
Fantacies are a treat. Being a horror fan, the suspence that keeps you coming back for more. The Gates was brillantly written. Not since the good ole days when we had Dark Shallows has there been something so good. I hope the reconsider and give The Gates another chance. I am so waiting…..

ABC SUCKS!! I NEVER watch ABC, and as soon as I heard about, and seen the previews for THE GATES I started watching ABC, ONLY for The Gates! All, the shows they keep running are pointless and dumb, NOT even entertaining! I will NEVER watch ABC again!
