As expected, ABC has cancelled The Gates after one season on the air. The ratings certainly didn’t dictate a second season and a couple weeks ago, series star Frank Grillo said that he’d heard unofficially that the show wouldn’t be back.
Though even actress Lindsay Lohan wanted to see it return, it’s now been confirmed that The Gates has indeed been cancelled. Some of the people connected with the show have tweeted about the series’ passing.
From the show’s Twitter feed comes, “We would like to thank our followers for sticking with us through this great journey.”
Gates creator Richard Hatem wrote simply, “Thanks to everyone who loved it. DVD set to be released…someday?”
Consulting producer and writer Robert Hewitt Wolfe tweeted, “Thank you to #TheGates fans, crew & cast for a great run. It was a blast. Seriously some of the best fans ever.” He later posted, “4 sale, lux devlpmnt/incrprtd town w/ upscale owners, prvt police/fire, exclnt school, occasional mysterious death”
Colton L Haynes wrote, “Was a great/fun experience and thk u all for coming along for the ride!. He followed that up with, “THE GATES cast and crew: thk u all for the good times! Learned alot and had a great summer with u all! Cheers to the future!” and posted this photo with #ripBrettCreski. Wolfe responded, “Sob… Too young!”
James Preston looks forward to the future, tweeting, “No worries gates fans follow us on to our new exciting roles!” Travis Caldwell echoed that sentiment, saying, “its all good more to come from all of us !!!”
Justin Miles wrote, “We gave em a hell of a run, though…” Janina Gavankar feels similarly, saying, “Sad. But we’re incredibly proud of what we made.”
Young McKaley Miller tweeted, “thank you guys for all the support!! seriously, y’all are awesome!! #TheGates is officially over, but it was such a great experience!! TY :)”
Andrea Powell wrote, “Thanks for all the love, fans of #TheGates. We’ll miss you! :-*”
Rachel Dipillo wrote, “We had a fun ride on The Gates. Love everyone I worked with and can’t wait to see what you do next! #RIPLEXIEWADE”
Grillo tweeted, “Thanks to all of you for supporting us. It made the whole thing worth it. Lots more fun stuff coming.” Grillo also said that he’d share what would have happened in the second season. After son Charlie is saved, Nick and his family would have stayed in the Gates community. The Radcliffs decide to take a break from one another. Leigh becomes the head of the police and Nick takes over the Gates board and oversees the community.

That sucks! It was really interesting. Better than “Vampire Diaries” and other shows out there. Much better than reality. BRING IT BACK!!
I was too just checking to see when it was returning-sooo disappointed that it got cancelled. I got really excited that this was an awesome show with a great cast, hoping another network picks you up. BOOO for ABC.

Gates was the best setting and premise for a Vampire/Warewolf genre show. These actors meshed beautifully to make it come alive.
I will never understand why it got cancelled when lackluster shows prevail.
This is so disappointing! I was really looking forward to this show returning. I really hate ABC they cancel every good show without giving it much of a chance. I am pretty sure any show they premier in the summer isn’t going to do that well, because who wants to stay in their houses all summer! And I don’t think they take into account that people DVR shows to watch later.

Wow, first Sara Connor Files get’s the axe and now the Gates. Somebody is not getting it and not concerned about the fans point of view. The Gates was a really good show that just didn’t get a fair shake. Have to agree with the majority about the Reality shows, they are getting tiresome and boring. Looking so forward to the day when Reality shows are viewed like the Disco Era.

I hope another network like maybe HBO family picks it up or Scifi…WOW….WOW…this was one of the best shows yet on ABC….SOooooooooooooooo tired of REALITY CRAP SHOWS…..I really don’t want to see anymore THE BACHELOR, FAT SHOWS, THE BACHELORETTE, The Real House wifes of…I don’t really care, Liza & David, So You Think You Can Dance, Skating with the Stars, Bad Girls Club, Jersey Shores, Pregnant teens shows,….to name a few I want fiction type shows….seriously REALITY CRAP SHOWS….BITE ME!
I am more than pissed off they canned this show….. It just started to air here in Australia…. and they cut it ??? why even bother to air it at all dammit…… if we start to really get into it…. and then BAM they tell us…. “Sorry….. no season two”…. Idiots…. Don’t air it then….. and they end it on a damn cliff hanger….. so now we won’t know what the hell happens???? damn I am totally pissed the hell off.
It is just another example of a great show, unique in both content and style, getting axed, while we have the stupidist reality freakin shows on. The Gates was great, and had great acting. What a shame T.V. Shows that should be on aren’t.
I can’t believe they cancelled this show! Disappointmented doesn’t begin to describe it. This show has so many ways it could have gone plot and character development wise!!! I hope that someone pulls their head out of their a…s and picks up this show.

I’m so disappointed…..I just read where the show was cancelled….and why?….it was so interesting, great cliff hanger scenes…..every good show I fall in love with gets cancelled….ex: the surface……and many more sci fi shows that adults can enjoy…..so sad……
Im SO dissapointed!!!I loved this show.It was nice to have something on besides all the reality shows.I thought the storylines and the characters were great.I think that ABC made a really bad call by cancelling this show!!!!!

I was really looking forward to a new season,I think it was one of the better shows on.Im so sick of reality tv,it was nice to watch something with a supernatural theme.I loved the characters and the story lines.Im sorry to see it end.I think abc made a crappy call on this one!!!!!
